More good news!
I saw the physician's assistant yesterday. She talked to the radiologist and was able to confirm that my latest C-T scans of my lungs and pelvis show -- I believe the medical term she used was "way smaller" tumors. :) The tumor in my uterus is so small that the C-T scan results are within normal parameters. The next scan will be an MRI.

Because the cancer has been so responsive to the chemo, we have decided to keep going with it for six rounds. I've had two rounds so far and start my third round tomorrow.

I've been doing well with the chemo so I don't mind too much that I'll be having more of it since it's working so well. I think acupuncture and Chinese herbs are helping me with side effects, as well as the amazing anti-nausea and cell-building drugs.

My results are so unexpected that the medical professionals at the cancer center are giddy with excitement. I think I'm trying too hard not to get my hopes up and I should celebrate this news more. I could use your help! :grouphug: Thanks!

6. *sigh*
With the help of a DU'er who sent me a check for considerable amount of money I paid out of pocket for my meds ($1200!) immediatly spilled about 1/4 of it while opening a vial but tonight I had my second injection...The first one seemed to help for a couple of days anyway....

17. Thanks!
I'm generally a skeptic but acupuncture makes sense to me. My acupuncture doctor has a PhD in oncology and specializes in helping cancer patients. He also seems to be very well regarded in Austin.

Go, Spurs, Go! I'll have to break out the Spurs Slam Dunk Chocolate Chunk ice cream (from H.E.B.) if they don't get the lead back soon! :bounce:

spending all night cramped up in an airplane in NO!

I need to check out the ice cream, but ice cream makes me HUGE!

Austin is an incredible place. It's gotten too big for my tastes, though.

28. Yikes!
This score is going in the wrong direction! I really don't think I should have any more ice cream. I guess I'll have to put on my Spurs T-shirt next!

Yes, I liked Austin better in the 70s but I still can't imagine living anywhere else -- at least, in Texas. And I'm not getting Mr. Longhorn out of here either, ever since I let him build his wood shop. ;)

18. Oh, I am SO happy for you!
Excellent news! I'll send you all the good vibes I've got, as long as you need them.

Your unexpected response is very interesting, and encouraging. I bet the drs and scientists are itching to do a little research on you (in a good way, of course) to see if you have a certain kind of receptor or something that made you respond so well. My sister just got over a bad bout of breast cancer, and during her treatments we talked a lot about the kind of tumors that respond to certain kinds of drugs, in different orders, etc. So - it really is very interesting, and exciting for research!

By the way - how're you liking your wig, now that you've had it for a bit?

19. I'm so glad your sister is doing well!
I'll sure be happy when this is behind me, though I'm not sure any of us will ever stop worrying a bit. The PA did say that I'm very "special" and that I'm also in unchartered waters. Now I know why my doctor wasn't particularly encouraging in the beginning! I always expected to get rid of the cancer initially -- it's the likelihood of recurrence that worries me.

I wore the wig to school three days and then went with my own hair and haven't worn it since. I'm still glad I have it for special occasions or just in case I lose more hair but it isn't getting out much. :)

Thanks for sharing my good news and I wish only the same for your sister from now on!

21. thank you for the vibes for my sister!
 back to you.

Recurrence is a worry for my sister, too - but once you get through this bout, you'll just be SO GLAD. And many doctors now see cancer as a chronic disease - like diabetes, for example - and you just hang in there and take each day in stride, knowing that new treatments and discoveries are happening daily. Not exactly comforting, but perhaps acceptable.

You go on and kick that cancer's ass. This is wonderful news and I'm glad to hear that you're tolerating the chemo well. Do me a favor? will you give the cancer an extra hard kick in the balls for my dad? He couldn't kick it and it would be an honor if you'd do a little kicking in his memory for me.

50. I would be honored to do so!
I know he did everything he could to beat it. Sometimes the best we have to give is not enough but it's definitely not the patient's fault. I do believe that when friends and loved ones send positive thoughts and prayers, even though I'm not a believer, it helps me stay positive which affects my overall haalth and makes me a little stronger and better able to withstand the treatments. It may be that visualizations, such as the cancer-stompin' boots, have an effect but they sure can't hurt! :) But most of all, I'm just lucky right now. I can't take credit for anything accept just doing the best I can to enjoy and appreciate whatever time I have left. I'm sure your dad did the same thing.
