4. I am FREEZING!!
Edited on Fri May-23-08 12:51 PM by huskerlaw
I'm sitting here in my office in jeans and a SWEATSHIRT (yay for casual Friday) and the wind is seeping through my windows (they're basically floor to ceiling) and I'm SO COLD.

Also, it looks like it could start pouring any second. No rain so far though.

On edit: I should say, no rain since late last night/early this morning. We definitely got it yesterday!

5. Has there been flooding by you?
So far no flooding here, but just beyond the foothills there is much sliding.

7. Nope, no flooding
it absolutely poured in downtown LA yesterday, but since everything's concrete around here (nor are there any hills), so flooding isn't really an issue.

The LA "River" runs right past my apartment, but apparently the Valley didn't get much rain. It was barely raised above it's typical slow drip. There was still dry concrete "river bottom", lol. Oddly enough, that river has been known to raise to 6 feet even in a minor rain storm, so I'm guessing the Valley only had sprinkles.

I heard about the OC's mudslides though, yikes! Total double-edged sword, isn't it? No rain? Fires! Fires then rain? Mudslides! UUUGH.

15. Snow???!!??? In May????
Actually, I got caught in a blizzard on Memorial Day weekend, a complete white-out. Of course, it was up at Lake Tahoe, driving around the lake in the early morning hours. Pretty damn bizarre. It was a late Memorial Day; there was snow on the ground on June 1st.

19. Yep. Yesterday was like "Ice Capades" on Imperial Highway.
Some of the burger-gobblin', cellphone-yakkin', monster-truck drivin' yahoos that comprise a greater-than-average proportion of the local populace suddenly and brutally discovered that what goes on outside the window of their vehicle is actually real, and not just some version of TV.

A couple of cops were injured near here when a clown in a truck bigger 'n he could handle lost control at an intersection and swerved into their car. I saw another jacked-up idiocy lying on its side near the junction of Brea and Harbor Blvds (Its called "center of gravity" fucknuts!), and three fender benders on the local freeways involving members of the perpetual-cellphone community.

Just another rainy day in SoCal.

20. What is it about Fullerton, Brea, Placentia and Yorba Linda that attracts the monster truck people?

21. You've got me there.

The parking lot outside the Brea Mall looks like the rodeo's in town most weekends. The only difference is, outside a real rodeo, all the trucks would look like they'd been used to haul something. Here, they look like they just drove out of a showroom.

I can't even claim it's just tiny-penised men overcompensating. An equal number of the monster truck brigade seem to be women, with Asians representing a higher-than-expected percentage. Half the time, all you can see inside the cab is a minuscule pair of hands gripping the wheel. The fact there aren't more of them wrapped around the local scenery is the best evidence I've seen for the existence of psychic powers, because there's no way they're able to see over the dash.
