3. Thanks
they'd be nicer with a better lens, which would create more background blur.

13. Really?
That is actually considered desirable? I've always been driven batshit by backgrounds like #4. It leaves the subject contextless and I'm all like "where is it and what the heck is going on?"

I really like it when I can make out the surroundings and like the "soft focus" flowers

14. More isolation of the subject is typically considered desireable
Of course, you can play with extremes on either end

This was taken with the fastest lens I have

(I didn't realize I'd recreated the Budweiser crown behind the bottle until I got home that night)

This was a very long exposure, which keeps front and back much more in focus

5. Great pics!
(Factoid: When these sting, they go for the eyes. Found that out once when I accidentally disturbed one while gardening.)

10. All are lovely, but I especially like the composition in pics 3, 5 & 6.

Likewise the "watercolor" background effect in pics 4 & 6.

Well done!

15. Is that a macro lens?
Or did you have your nose two inches away from that thing? :D

Very nice!

16. It was close, but not macro.
The macro mode I do have on that lens (which broke) would have had me all but touching the bee. Kind of a crappy lens.

18. oh how beautiful!
I'm totally gasping!! These are so great.

I like the bumblebees, they sometimes seem drunk or something, bumping into me like they think I'm another plant.
