Is it ever considered uncouth to change the name of a bird?
My two conures are named Scooter and Rusty, and I've had them for a few weeks now, but it just dawned on me that if I called them Dan and Roseanne... Dan and Roseanne Conure... :D

3. That is a most excellent reason for a name change.
If the conures don't object, go ahead with the change.

5. Fine, but give them time to adapt.
I named my cat Stevie Lee Jones, it was a joke only I got. I usually called her Stevie unless she made me mad and I'd be all formal and call her Miss Jones. Only thing she really responded to, though, was "my girl". Play any song with that in the lyrics and she'd come running. And I called her that a lot.

You can change names, but give them time to adapt to the change.. Do they respond to their names?

Khash.

7. Currently, they do not...
Half the time, I already mix up their names so when I called Scooter 'Rusty' (or vice-versa), they didn't respond.

Actually, I think they both think their names are "Come here". Every time I say that phrase, they both perk up... :D

I will give them lots of time to adapt. And time to learn their new names; I rarely called them by their old ones so now would be the ideal time...

8. Do they know/recognize their own names yet?
If not, I think it's fine to give them new names. :hi:
