3. Sha-na-na was a joke
The Blasters rocked and Dave Alvin is one of the most underappreciated songwriters around.

Sha-na-na was a cartoon band while the Blasters were a lot more than mere rockabilly.

Disclosure - I worked for their management company way back when and knew the band very well.

10. How anyone could prefer Sha-Na-Na to the Blasters...

...truly mystifies me. The Blasters were a genuine, kick-ass roots rock band whose albums to me represent some of the finest music of the 1980s. Meanwhile, Sha-Na-Na was (and still is) nothing more than a cheesy nostalgia act.

I can only assume that more people are familiar with Sha-Na-Na because of that dumbass TV show they had in the late 1970s.

Incidentally, Dave Alvin of the Blasters is still at it, touring the country with his band and keeping the Holy Spirit of Rock 'n' Roll both alive and vibrant. You go, Brother Dave!
