1. Oh, yeah!
Steve Earle is IN the motherfuckin' house!

Became an UBER-fan when I saw him in 1999 with the Del McCoury Band in Dallas at the Lakewood Theatre.

What a show! And what an activist he has turned out to be.

2. Yeppers!
We're from the same area of Texas. In "Guitar Town" when he mentions the "speed trap up ahead in Selma-town", that's the area where I grew up. I grew up in Universal City, Selma's next-door neighbor.

9. Love him.Believe what he says about Schertz,Texas.I lived there when
he did.Didn't know him;my sister did,though.
There's a lot of Steve Earle fans at DU.Last summer I turned a few people in Seattle on to Steve and they've scoured the record shops and bought up every thing they could.

10. Oh, yeah!
Since I first heard "Guitar Town". Saw him as a warmup to Bob Dylan at an outdoor concert in St. Paul.

Always had a soft spot for "Fearless Heart".

Don't you worry bout what you've been told
Cause honey I ain't even close to cold
It's kinda soon to fall in love again
But sometimes the best that you can do is just jump back in

I got me a fearless heart
Strong enough to get you through the scary part
It's been broken many times before
A fearless heart just comes back for more

Folks'll tell you that I'm just no good
But I wouldn't hurt you honey if I could
I can't promise this'll work out right
But it would kill me darlin' if we didn't even try
I got me a fearless heart..

I admit I fall in love a lot
But I nearly always give it my best shot
I know you must think I'm the reckless kind
But I want a lady with a fearless heart just like mine
I got me a fearless heart..

11. Yo! I ain't ever satisfied!
I was born by the railroad tracks
Well the train whistle wailed and I wailed right back
Well papa left mama when I was quite young
He said now "One of these days you're gonna follow me son"
Woh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I ain't ever satisfied
Woh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
I ain't ever satisfied

Now I had me a woman she was my world
But I ran off with my back street girl
Now my back street woman could not be true
She left me standin' on the boulevard thinkin' bout you

I got an empty feeling deep inside
I'm going over to the other side

Last night I dreamed I made it to the promise land
I was standin' at the gate and I had the key in my hand
Saint Peter said "Come on in boy, you're finally home"
I said "No thanks Pete, I'll just be moving along"

13. Hoo-hah
Good-bye is all we got left to say
And the Rain Came Down
Nothing But A Child
You Belong To Me
actually, every song on Copperhead Road
Hopeless Romantics

on and on

There was a Kristofferson bio on CMT the other night, and all four Nashville libs were on - Willie, Earle, Cash, and Kris. Was like a damn CP meeting.
