10. That's one of the few Czech phrases I remember
We need a pta thread today. :)

The other one I remember is Zvedovost. I think I spelled that correctly.

16. I don't know how it is spelled, but this is a
the remainder of brown bits and gelatin when pigs feet and other parts are boiled down. Apparently my husband's uncle used to fight his bothers and sisters for it as it is a tasty delicacy. Probably doesn't help the LDL count very much.

17. Czech, mate ...
My maternal great-grandparents and all their kids, grandkids, etc came from the border town now called Hojova Straz in 1874 ... settled in NE Wisconsin.

18. De Kuyi...
I know that isn't how it is spelled, but that is it phonetically. It means thank you.

I got a Eurorail pass and travelled through central Europe when I got out of the Navy and stop number 3 was Prague. I stopped in this little newstand to get a new roll of film. I had written several basic phrases in Czech on the palm of my left hand. I paid the cashier, looked at my palm and said "Dekuyi." The guy looked at his palm and said "Bye"

I laughed my ass off!
