Study: 58 Percent Of U.S. Exercise Televised
WASHINGTON, DC—According to a new Department of Health and Human Services study, 58 percent of all exercise performed in the U.S. is broadcast on television. "Of the 3.5 billion push-ups performed in 2003, 2.03 billion took place on exercise shows on the Lifetime Network and ESPN3 or fitness segments on Good Morning America," the study read. "The abundance of TV exercise would create the impression that America is a healthy society, if everyone didn't already know that we're a bunch of disgusting, near-immobile spectators." The DHHS study also indicated that 99.3 percent of the nation's Soloflex workouts are televised.

2. Post your links! PLEASE!
I know it's the Lounge and all, but ya gotta post your links! Some of these stories walk a fine line between satire and reality, and it helps to keep one separated from the other.

3. This can't be linked!
That's why I put the Onion on the bottom. If you've ever read the Onion, this is one of their news in briefs--if I linked, I'd get the whole page, and not simply this story.

4. That's not how linking works
First, you post a couple of paragraphs from the story. Four is the "official" number, but you can post a couple more for long pieces. This prevents DU from being hit with copyright infringement lawsuits.

Then, you post the URL -- the link -- to the piece. Just the address that goes in the address window in the top part of the browser.

And there you have it -- a quote with a link!

5. What I have posted is the entire story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're not getting it, are you?

This is from the front page of The Onion--it is one of their short "news in brief" pieces--a link to this would be to the front page of the Onion, and if I did that, then this particular story would get lost in everything else.

THAT is why I put "Cheers to The Onion" at the bottom of my original thread!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7. I'd run right out and demand Congress take action
But my couch is so comfy and there's a great episode of Gilligans Island coming on...
