2. Lewis is a pale imitation
Though the Narnia Chronicles are very good, they just don't have the depth and nuance of LOTR.

Lewis and Tolkein really aren't comparable, IMO. Lewis triumphed with allegory, in the Narnia Chronicles, The Great Divorce and the Screwtape Letters. Tolkein didn't write allegory.

5. I wouldn't say Lewis was an imitation.
On a different level, maybe. But I think he wrote for himself and attempted to imitate no one.

I liked Lewis better than Tolkein. :shrug:

As did, of course, JFK.
