I've told this story before, but I haven't told it in a while, so I'm going to tell it again. It's a fun story.
In 1993 I started dating the person that would become my first wife. Mary, my first wife, was an old friend from high school. I hadn't seen her in a while as I had been away in the Navy, but after I got discharged in '92 we started hanging out again.
Mary had a young friend named Linda. Linda was 16 or 17 (I was 25) and had been a model. She hung out with us quite a bit, so I got to know her a little. She was always more Mary's friend than mine.
In '94 I got married. Mary picked Linda to be her maid of honor, and we have photographs of her signing off on our marriage license.
In '96 or so, Linda moved to Idaho. She was going to school to become a nurse, and she had also trained as a paramedic. Mary kept in touch with Linda, and she came to visit a couple of times.
By '97 my marriage to Mary was over, and we went our separate ways but remained friends.
Fast-forward to 2000. A buddy of mine who is into porn a little too much called me over one night; this friend had also been friends with Mary and Linda. So I'm visiting with my buddy, and he gets on the computer and pulls up a photo of a nude woman.
"Doesn't she look familiar?" he asked me. I looked at the woman. She did look familiar, but I couldn't place her right away. My buddy was grinning.
"Yeah, she does look familiar," I said. "Who is it?" My friend got up and pulled out a photo album. He had photos from my wedding to Mary, including a photo of us signing the marriage license. He pointed to one of the photos.
"Holy crap! It's Linda!"
Yes, the porn star was my friend's maid of honor. Now she goes by the name Tera Patrick. We were all shocked, especially Mary, who refused to believe it was her old friend Linda. But they eventually got in touch with each other, and Linda confirmed she was indeed famed porn star Tera Patrick. Linda achieved a fair amount of fame as Tera. She's still in the business but I think she's planning on retiring; she wants to go to medical school to be a doctor. Really.
It's a crazy world.
