Favorite love song (no lust songs, please)
There are few true love songs anymore. Mostly the "love songs" are just about sex. Which is okay, but I like the romantic, not-borderline-pornographic stuff.

This is my favorite one, a country tune by Blake Shelton:

She left without leaving a number

Said she needed to clear her mind

He figured she'd gone back to Austin

She talked about it all the time

It was almost a year before she called him up

Three rings and an answering machine

Is what she got:

If you're callin' 'bout the car I sold it

If this is Tuesday night I'm bowlin'

If you got somethin' to sell, you're wastin' your time

I ain't buyin'

If it's anybody else, wait for the tone

You know what to do

And PS, if this is Austin, I still love you

The telephone fell to the counter

She heard but she couldn't believe

What kind of man would hold on that long

What kind of love that must be

She waited three days

And then she tried again

She didn't know what she'd say

But she heard three rings and then:

If it's Friday night I'm at the ballgame

And first thing Saturday, if it don't rain

I'm headed out to the lake

And I'll be gone all weekend long

But I'll call you back when I get home on Sunday afternoon

And PS, if this is Austin, I still love you

This time she left her number

But not another word

Then she waited by the phone on Sunday evenin'

And this is what he heard:

If you're callin' 'bout my heart, it's still yours

I should have listened to it a little more

And it wouldn't have taken me so long

To know where I belong

And by the way boy

This is no machine you're talkin' to

Can't you tell this is Austin and I still love you

I still love you

*sniff* I love that song. I'll be late for ANYTHING if it comes on the radio while I'm in the car.

2. Bright Eyes - Tereza and Tomas
Let’s sail away
Past the noise of the bay
Let’s sail away
Past the birth and death of the day
Let’s sail away
To where the blues and greens
Swirl into gray
Let’s sail away
Let’s sail away
Past the cradle of these waves
Let’s sail away
Past the tide and its slow decay
Let’s sail away
To where the water goes
Some endless open space
Let’s sail away
Take only what you need, my love
And leave the rest behind
Don’t be afraid of where we go, my love
I promise we'll be fine
Now you are the only one that's mine
Let’s sail away
Past the reflections of the light
Let’s sail away
Floating weightless through the night
Let’s sail away
Like a photograph
Fading to all white
It’s finally all right
Forget all the mistakes, my love
They won’t be made again
Leave the photos in the drawer, my love
We no longer need them
We both know where we’ve been
Let’s sail away
Disappearing in the mist
Let’s sail away
With a whisper and a kiss
Or vanish from a road somewhere
Like Tereza and Tomas
Suspended in this bliss

3. No problem...Warren Zevon...
"Accidentally, Like a Martyr"

"The phone don't ring
and the sun refused to shine
Never thought I'd have to pay so dearly
For what was already mine
for such a long, long time

We made mad love, shadow love
random love and abandoned love
accidentally, like a martyr....."

57. There's also the great lines:
"You know love conquers all, you can't start it like a car, you can't stop it with a gun."

And I think in its own way, "Keep Me In Your Heart For A While" is his most powerful love song--"I'm tied to you like the buttons on your blouse" makes me shiver just to type.

Man I miss him.

4. Dreaming with Tears in My Eyes... by Jimmy Rogers, the singing brakeman
My heart is longing for you, love
I cared for you more then you knew
Though you have broken each promise
Yesterday's dreams are untrue

Alone, I'll be yearning tomorrow
When sunshine brings memories of you
My sunshine will turn into sorrow
As a dream of the love you once knew

Why should I always be lonesome
When sunny and blue are the skies
While shadows and loneliness linger
I'm dreaming with tears in my eyes

Why did you promise me sweetheart
Never to leave me alone
Yesterday's sunshine is faded
You're love wasn't true like my own

Alone, I'll be yearning tomorrow
When sunshine brings memories of you
My sunshine will turn into sorrow
As a dream of the love we once knew

Why should I always be lonesome
When sunny and blue are the skies
While shadows and loneliness linger
I'm dreaming with tears in my eyes

5. Ever Dream - Nightwish
Ever Dream

Ever felt away with me
Just once that all I need
Entwined in finding you one day

Ever felt away without me
My love, it lies so deep
Ever dream of me

Would you do it with me
Heal the scars and change the stars
Would you do it for me
Turn loose the heaven within

I'd take you away
Castaway on a lonely day
Bosom for a teary cheek
My song can but borrow your grace

Come out, come out wherever you are
So lost in your sea
Give in, give in for my touch
For my taste for my lust

Your beauty cascaded on me
In this white night fantasy

"All I ever craved were the two dreams I shared with you.
One I now have, will the other one ever dream remain.
For yours I truly wish to be."

6. Story Book Love
Willy DeVille:

Come my love, I'll tell you a tale
of a boy and girl, and their love story,
and how he loved her oh, so much,
and all the charms she did possess.
CHORUS:
My love is like a storybook story.
But it's as real as the feelings I feel.
My love is like a storybook story.
But it's as real as the feelings I feel;
it's as real as the feelings I feel.
Now this did happen once upon a time
When things were not so complex,
And how he worshipped the ground she walked.
When he looked in her eyes, he became obsessed.
(CHORUS )
This love was stronger than the powers so dark,
A prince could have within his keeping;
His spells to weave and steal a heart
Within her breast, but only sleeping.
(CHORUS )
He said, "Don't you know I love you oh, so much,
And lay my heart at the foot of your dress?"
She said, "Don't you know that storybook loves
Always have a happy ending?"
Then he swooped her up, just like in the books,
And on his stallion they rode away.
(CHORUS)

13. Love Song~Tesla
So you think that it's over, say your love has finally reached the end
Any time you call, night or day,
I'll be right there for you
If you need a friend
It's gonna take a little time,
I know, time is sure to mend your broken heart
But don't you even worry, pretty darlin',
'cos I know you'll find love again
Love is all around you, love is knockin' outside your door
Waitin' for you is this love made just for two
Keep an open heart and you'll find love again, I know
Love is all around you, yeah yeah, love is knockin' outside your door
Waitin' for you is this love made just for two
Keep an open heart and you'll find love again, I know

It's all around
It's all around
Love will find a way - darlin', love is gonna find a way
Find its way back to you
Love will find a way - so look around, open your eyes
Love is gonna find a way - love is gonna, love is gonna
Love is gonna, love is gonna find a way, yeah
Love will find a way - love is gonna find a way back to you, yeah yeah yeah

Love will find a way - darlin', love is gonna find a way
Find its way back to you
Love will find a way - oh just look around, look around
Open up your eyes now, honey
Love is gonna find a way - love is gonna, love is gonna
Love is gonna, love is gonna find a way, yeah
Love will find a way - love is gonna find a way back to you, yeah yeah
I know!

I forget the name of it. They've been playing it every week on KNAC.com, during their "Wild Side" show that features music from back in the day, as well as new tunes from those bands (who are back/still around). In case you're interested, the show is on Saturdays, 3pm-7pm PST.

15. "No One Is To Blame" -- Howard Jones
Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 01:24 AM by Lauren2882
NO ONE IS TO BLAME
Howard Jones

You can look at the menu, but you just can't eat
You can feel the cushion, but you can't have a seat
You can dip your foot in the pool, but you can't have a swim
You can feel the punishment, but you can't commit the sin

CHORUS:

And you want her, and she wants you
We want everyone
And you want her and she wants you
No one, no one, no one ever is to blame
You can build a mansion, but you just can't live in it
You're the fastest runner but you're not allowed to win
Some break the rules, and let you cut the cost
The insecurity is the thing that won't get lost

CHORUS

You can see the summit but you can't reach it
It's the last piece of the puzzle but you just can't make it fit
Doctor says you're cured but you still feel the pain
Aspirations in the clouds but your hopes go down the drain

CHORUS

No one ever is to blame, No one ever is to blame

myself. I can't say it. today i wished. i wished the calmest though. I laid down before you. I was so dead in your arms. what would you do if I said 143? it's always like this. I'm only here to remind you. I don't think I can do this alone. Common sense for a second. Frustrated from these screams. Still holding on with these pictures. Now still holding on with the sun, the wind, the rain. I want you to bathe in me. To touch my lips again. It's all wrong. But yet we still want to breathe. It's all the one. To try himself for a second. Dream for everybody. It's ours, but you're still not here. but i will wait. I woke up this morning, and you're still not here. and I know you're never calling back. It's in your eyes. All I've ever known is in your eyes.

18. "Nantucket Sleighride" - Mountain
Dunno why, but this song still gets to me. (Maybe not the perfect love song, but it works for me.)

----------------------------
Goodbye, little Robin-Marie
Don't try following me
Don't cry, little Robin-Marie
'Cause you know I'm coming home soon

My ships' leaving on a three-year tour
The next tide will take us from shore
Windlaced, gather in sail and spray
On a search for the mighty sperm whale

Fly your willow branches
Wrap your body round my soul
Lay down your reeds and drums on my soft sheets
There are years behind us reaching
To the place where hearts are beating
And I know you're the last true love I'll ever meet

Starbuck's sharpening his harpoon
The black man's playing his tune
An old salt's sleeping his watch away
He'll be drunk again before noon

Three years sailing on bended knee
We found no whales in the sea
Don't cry, little Robin-Marie
'Cause we'll be in sight of land soon

:(God I wish I didn't have any memories connected to this song. But I do, and it ruins it for me. Still, it's a beautiful song.

:cry:God I miss her.

Take me out tonight
where there's music and there's people
who are young and alive
driving in your car
I never never want to go home
because I haven't got one
anymore

Take me out tonight
because I want to see people
and I want to see lights
driving in your car
oh please don't drop me home
because it's not my home, it's their
home, and I'm welcome no more

And if a double-decker bus
crashes into us
to die by your side
is such a heavenly way to die
and if a ten ton truck
kills the both of us
to die by your side
the pleasure and the privilege is mine

Take me out tonight
oh take me anywhere, I don't care
and in the darkened underpass
I thought oh God, my chance has come at last
(but then a strange fear gripped me and I
just couldn't ask)

Take me out tonight
take me anywhere, I don't care
just driving in your car
I never never want to go home
because I haven't got one
I haven't got one

And if a double-decker bus
crashes into us
to die by your side
is such a heavenly way to die
and if a ten ton truck
kills the both of us
to die by your side
the pleasure and the privilege is mine

There is a light and it never goes out...

24. a little something Dar for you
The One Who Knows
Dar Williams

Time it was I had a dream, and you're the dream come true. If I had the world to give, I'd give it all to you.
I'll take you to the mountains, I will take you to the sea. I'll show you how this life became a miracle to me.

You'll fly away, but take my hand until that day. So when they ask how far love goes,
When my job's done you'll be the one who knows.

All the things you treasure most will be the hardest won.
I will watch you struggle long before the answers come.
But I won't make it harder, I'll be there to cheer you on,
I'll shine the light that guides you down the road you're walking on.

You'll fly away, but take my hand until that day. So when they ask how far love goes,
When my job's done you'll be the one who knows.

Before the mountains call to you, before you leave this home,
I want to teach your heart to trust, as I will teach my own,
But sometimes I will ask the moon where it shined upon you last,
And shake my head and laugh and say it all went by too fast.

You'll fly away, but take my hand until that day. So when they ask how far love goes,
When my job's done you'll be the one who knows.

25. "In My Life"/Beatles tied with "This Must Be The Place"/Talking Heads
(sorry such a long post but I really can't choose between the two)

In My Life

There are places I remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

In my life I love you more
---------------------------------------------------------
This Must Be The Place

Home is where I want to be
Pick me up and turn me round
I feel numb - born with a weak heart
I guess I must be having fun
The less we say about it the better
Make it up as we go along
Feet on the ground
Head in the sky
It's ok I know nothing's wrong . . nothing

Hi yo I got plenty of time
Hi yo you got light in your eyes
And you're standing here beside me
I love the passing of time
Never for money
Always for love
Cover up and say goodnight . . . say goodnight

Home - is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home - she lifted up her wings
Guess that this must be the place
I can't tell one from another
Did I find you, or you find me?
There was a time Before we were born
If someone asks, this where I'll be . . . where I'll be

Hi yo We drift in and out
Hi yo sing into my mouth
Out of all those kinds of people
You got a face with a view
I'm just an animal looking for a home
Share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me till my heart stops
Love me till I'm dead
Eyes that light up, eyes look through you
Cover up the blank spots
Hit me on the head Ah ooh

27. Sharp Cutting Wings (Song to a Poet) - Lucinda Williams
I first heard it on the soundtrack to Niagara Niagara (a GREAT indy film if you haven't seen it and one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard).

you're the one, you're my shinin' star
you're the one I've been waiting for
let's fly away to some foreign country
where nobody knows who we are

I wish I had a ship to sail the waters
I wish I had about a hundred dollars
but I'll just stand with this glass in my hand
feelin' like nothin' even matters

your words run thru me
like the blood in my veins
I could swear I knew your love
before I knew your name
before I knew your name

every day I miss your smilin' face
no one here can ever take your place
the sun can shine down over my town
but it never shines in my days

I told all the stars above
I'm gonna shower you with my love
I won't demand you, I'll try to understand you
my love is as free as a dove

your words run thru me
like the blood in my veins
I could swear I knew your love
before I knew your name
before I knew your name

you're the one, you're my shinin' star
you're the one I've been waiting for
let's fly away to some foreign country
where nobody knows who we are

30. "The Way You Look Tonight"
Especially by Sinatra.

Some day, when I’m awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow just thinking of you
And the way you look tonight.

Yes, you’re lovely, with your smile so warm
And your cheeks so soft,
There is nothing for me but to love you
And the way you look tonight.

With each word your tenderness grows,
Tearing my fear apart;
And that laugh that wrinkles your nose
Touches my foolish heart.

Lovely: never, ever change.
Keep that breathless charm -
Won’t you please arrange it?
’Cause I love you
Just the way you look tonight.

31. "Knock Me A Kiss"
By Louis Jordan and his Tympani Five. Being featured in a Talbot's ad these days.

I like cake, and no mistake
But baby, if you insist
I'll cut out cake just for your sake
Baby, come on and knock me a kiss

I like pie, I hope to die
But get a load of this
When you get high, doggone the pie
Baby, come on and knock me a kiss

When you pressed your sweet lips to mine
'Twas then I understood
They taste like candy, brandy, and wine
Peaches, bananas, and everything good

I like jam, and no flim-flam
But scratch that off my list
This ain't no jam - the jam can scram!
Baby, come on and knock me a kiss

34. "Carry Me Ohio" by Sun Kil Moon
sad ... oh so forlorn and sad .... not sure it's a loevsong to an actual person, but it's so lovely and haunting ...

"sorry that
i could never love you back
i could never care enough
in these last days

her tears
fell on her pages
found me out
on her words i dont know what
to do or say

wading through
warm canals and pools clear blue
the Tuscarawas flows into
the prairie land

riding back
to where the highway met
dead end tracks
the ground is now cement and glass
and far away

heal her soul, carry her, my angel, ohio

lingering in
what about the sweetness we knew
what about what's good what's true
from those days

can't count to
all the lovers i've burned through
so why do i still burn for you
i can't say

sorry that
i could never love you back
i could never care enough in these last days

wading through
warm canals and pools clear blue
the Tuscarawas flows into
the prairie land

riding back
to where the highway met
dead end tracks
the ground is now cement and glass
and far away

heal her soul, carry her, my angel, ohio

children blush
and gather round the home she rests
so poor and gold with their midwest
moon and sun

flashes bringing on
my open eyes the lightning storm
the tortured mist felt soft, felt warm
on my face

craving dreams
a million miles ago you see
and the star that i just dont see
anymore

words long gone
lost on journeys we walked on
lost are voices heard along the way

sorry for
never going by your door
never feeling love like that
anymore

heal her soul, carry her, my angel, ohio ..."

35. Another Warren Zevon song. . .
I nominate another Warren Zevon song. This is a sad love song, but still, it's wonderful. RIP Warren.

Empty-Handed Heart

All these empty places
I try so hard to fill
Will I find another love?
I pray to God I will
Girl, we had some good times
But time does not stand still
It's rolling like a rockslide down a hill

I've met someone I care for
I know she cares for me
Will I fall in love again?
It's a possibility
Girl, we had some good times
That time cannot undo
No one will ever take the place of you

Heart jinxed condition
Never sure how I feel
Trying to separate the real thing
From the wishful thinking
Sometimes I wonder
If I'll make it without you
I'm determined to
I'll make my stand
And if after all is said and done
You only find one special one
Then I've thrown down diamonds in the sand
Then I've thrown down diamonds in the sand
Then I've thrown down diamonds in the sand
Then I've thrown down diamonds in the sand

Descant:
Remember when we used to watch the sun set in the sea
You said you'd always be in love with me
All through the night, we danced and sang
Made love in the morning while the church bells rang

Leave the fire behind you and start
I'll be playing it by ear
Left here with an empty-handed heart

36. Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton
Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 09:19 AM by socialdemocrat1981
My sister and her husband had this played at their wedding when they entered the wedding reception hall

It's late in the evening
She's wondering what clothes to wear
She puts on her make up
And brushes her long blonde hair
And then she asks me
Do I look alright
And I say yes, you look wonderful tonight

This is another favorite of mine -everyone knows this one though

Nothing's Gonna Change My Love For You

If I had to live my life without you near me
The days would all be empty
The nights would seem so long
With you I see forever.. oh so clearly
I might have been in love before
But it never felt this strong
Our dreams are young and we both know
They'll take us where we want to go
Hold me now
Touch me now
I don't want to live without you

Nothings gonna change my love for you
You ought to know by now how much I love you
One thing you can be sure of
I'll never ask for more than your love
Nothings gonna change my love for you
You ought to know by now how much I love you
The world may change my whole life through but
Nothings gonna change my love for you

And also "All I Ask Of You" from Phantom of the Opera

Raoul (Cliff)
No more talk of darkness,
forget these wide-eyed fears;
I'm here, nothing can harm you,
my words will warm and calm you.
Let me be your freedom,
let daylight dry your tears;
I'm here, with you, beside you,
to guard you and to guide you.

37. best love album ever
Billie Holiday, Songs for Distingue Lovers

With such classics as Day in Day Out:

Day in - day out
That same old voodoo follows me about
That same old pounding in my heart, whenever I think of you
And baby I think of you
Day in and day out

Day out - day in
I needn’t tell you how my days begin
When I awake I get up with a tingle
One possibility in view
That possibility of maybe seeing you

Come rain - come shine
I meet you and to me the day is fine
Then I kiss your lips, and the pounding becomes
An oceans roar, a thousand drums
Can’t you see it’s love, can there be any doubt
When there it is, day in - day out

and A Foggy Day
A foggy day, in london town
It had me low, and it had me down
I viewed the morning, with much alarm
The british museum, had lost it’s charm

How long I wondered, could this thing last
But the age of miracles, it hadn’t past
And suddenly, I saw you standing right there
And in foggy london town, the sun was shining everywhere

38. love songs cause bad mental health
The number one cause of bad mental health in the U.S. by far. They beat around the bush too much and create impossibly high expectations. Remember folks, love is not the end of the world, it is the beginning. So here is one much more honest and forthright:

"Dirty Love"

Give me
Your dirty love
Like you might surrender
To some dragon in your dreams

Give me
Your dirty love
Like a pink donation
To the dragon in your dreams

I don't need your sweet devotion
I don't want your cheap emotion
Just whip me up some dragon lotion
For your dirty love

Give me
Your dirty love
Like some tacky little pamphlet
In your daddy's bottom drawer

Give me
Your dirty love
I don't believe you have ever seen
That book before

I don't need no consolation
I don't want your reservation
I only got one destination
An' that's your dirty love

Give me
Your dirty love
Just like your mama
Make her fuzzy poodle do

Give me
Your dirty love
The way your mama
Make that nasty poodle chew

I'll ignore your cheap aroma
And your little-bo-peep diploma
I'll just put you in a coma
With some dirty love

THE POODLE BITES!
(Come on, Frenchie)
THE POODLE CHEWS IT!
(Snap it!)
THE POODLE BITES!
(Come on, Frenchie)
THE POODLE CHEWS IT!
(Snap it!)

43. Your Song by Elton John
It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live

If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you

And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world

I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on

So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen

:loveya: Ewan Mcgregor does a great version too.

get here(brenda russell)
There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
But if I had my way
Surely you would be closer
I need you closer

moody's mood for love (james moody)
There I go, there I go, there I go, there I go
Pretty baby you are the soul that snaps my control
It's a funny thing but everytime I'm near you
I never can behave
You give me a smile and I'm wrapped up in your magic
Music all around me, crazy music, music that keeps calling me so
Baby close to you, turns me into your slave

you are the sunshine of my life (stevie wonder)
I feel like this is the beginning,
Though I've loved you for a million years,
And if I thought our love was ending,
I'd find myself drowning in my own tears.

a house is not a home (luther vandross)
Pretty little darling, have a heart, don't let one mistake keep us apart
I'm not meant to live alone, turn this house into a home
When I climb the stairs and turn the key
Oh, please be there, sayin' that you're still in love with me, yeah...

59. Beth Orton - Lean on Me from the Best Bit EP
Really pretty song

You've seen sad times,
Your eyes have told me so,
Blue and bad times,
You think that I don't know,
But there'll be glad times,
Just you wait and see,
And there'll be a sun rise,
If you lean on me,
Said lean on me babe,
You can lean on me,
I imagine I could comfort you,
I have forgotten,
The things that you've been through,
But there's one thing,
On which we can a agree,
When you're ready darling,
You can lean on me,
And the love I bring,
Will grow into a lasting thing,
Put your heart on wings,
And set you free,
And as you rise,
Up into the clearing skies,
Maybe you will realise,
You can lean on me,
And lean on me,
You can lean on me,
Lean on me,
You can lean on me,
Lean on me,
You can lean on me,
Lean on me,
You can lean on me,
All your heartache,
Hidden deep inside,
So there's no telling,
How many tears you've cried,
But like the river,
To the weeping willow tree,
I can hold your teardrops child,
So lean on me,
And the love I bring,
Will grow into a lasting thing,
Put your heart on wings,
And set you free,
And as you rise,
Up into the clearing skies,
Maybe you will realise,
You can lean on me,
And lean on me,
You can lean on me,
Lean on me,
You can lean on me,
And lean on me,
You can lean on me,
Lean on me,
You can lean on me,
And lean on me,
You can lean on me,
Lean on me,
You can lean on me,
And lean on me,
You can lean on me,
Lean on me,
You can lean on me.

Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 03:02 PM by redqueen
love I get so lost, sometimes
days pass and this emptiness fills my heart
when I want to run away
I drive off in my car
but whichever way I go
I come back to the place you are

all my instincts, they return
and the grand facade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

in your eyes
the light the heat
in your eyes
I am complete
in your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
in your eyes
the resolution of all the fruitless searches
in your eyes
I see the light and the heat
in your eyes
oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light
the heat I see in your eyes

love, I don't like to see so much pain
so much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away
I get so tired of working so hard for out survival
I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive

and all my instincts, they return
and the grand facade, so soon will burn
without a noise, without my pride
I reach out from the inside

in your eyes
the light the heat
in your eyes
I am complete
in your eyes
I see the doorway to a thousand churches
in your eyes
the resolution of all the fruitless searches
in your eyes
I see the light and the heat
in your eyes
oh, I want to be that complete
I want to touch the light,
the heat I see in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes
in your eyes in your eyes

That's my favorite. :)

62. Or "Is it a Crime?"
Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 03:03 PM by redqueen
It may come, it may come as some surprise
but I miss you
I could see through, all of your lies
But I stll miss you
He takes her love, but it doesn't feel like mine
He tastes her kiss, her kisses are not wine, they're not mine
He takes, but surely she can't give what I'm feeling now
She takes, but surely she doesn't know how

Is it a crime
Is it a crime
That I still want you
And I want you to want me too

My love is wider, wider than vitoria lake
My love is taller, taller than the empire state

It dives and it jumps and it ripples like the deepest ocean
I can't give you more than that, surely you want me back

Is it a crime
Is it a crime
That I still want you
And I want you to want me too

My love is wider than vitoria lake
Taller than the empire state
It dives and it jumps
I can't give you more than that, surely you want me back

Is it a crime
Is it a crime
That I still want you
And I want you to want me too

It dives and it jumps
And it ripples like the deepest Ocean
I can't give you more than that
Surely you want me back

Tell me
Is it a crime

65. "Look What Love Has Done To Me"
Edited on Wed Mar-10-04 05:19 PM by kpharmer
Another country song, sung by Suzy Bogguss, written by Rob Mathes and Stephanie Lewis

Where once the moon was just a rock spinning in the sky
Where once the stars were only tiny points of light
Now the moon looks like it's heaven's shining pearl
Now those stars, they look like windows into another world

Chorus (1)
Look what love has done to me, look what love has done
There's poetry in all I see, look what love has done
And my heart is dancing through each day
My soul is running free
Look what love has done to me

Where once each breath was just a sigh of aching emptiness
Where once I hardly felt the beating in my chest
Now each breath feels like a precious kiss of life
Now inside of me beats the wings of a thousand butterflies

Chorus (2)
Look what love has done to me, look what love has done
This must be how it's meant to be, look what love has done
And my heart is dancing through each day
My soul is running free
Look what love has done to me

And I can't tell was that a violin, or did you say something
Was that lightning striking where I stand
Or did you just reach our and take my hand?

Repeat Chorus (1)

As I have said on this forum a few times, Suzy Bogguss is one of the best kept secrets in country music. This song is from her CD called "Suzy Bogguss" -- easy to remember, eh? Buy it; you won't regret it.

Edited to include:

Chris DeBurgh's "The Lady In Red"

I think this is one of the sexiest songs ever written. You can find the lyrics here:

76. Excitable Boy
Well, he went down to dinner in his Sunday best
Excitable boy, they all said
And he rubbed the pot roast all over his chest
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy

He took in the four a.m. show at the Clark
Excitable boy, they all said
And he bit the usherette's leg in the dark
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy

He took little Susie to the Junior Prom
Excitable boy, they all said
and he raped her and killed her, then he took her home
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy
After ten long years they let him out of the Home
Excitable boy, they all said
And he dug up her grave and built a cage with her bones
Excitable boy, they all said
Well, he's just an excitable boy
