Roy Orbison's night of black and white
This was just on last night on PBS here in Iowa, they are doing their fund raising drive and they always save this gem for then. If you haven't seen it, it's awesome!! It is available on DVD and CD but look at the band!!

Roy, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, T-Bone Burnett, backup singers are Bonnie Rait, Jennifer Warrens and K.D. Lang among others. The other musicians are if memory serves me correctly all guys who played with Roy or Elvis back in the day.

Just thought I'd throw this out there for any music lovers who may not have seen this before. An added bonus is to try and see how many celebrities you can spot when they pan the crowd. Patrick Swayze and Billy Idol are two that I can remember right off.

1. Elizabeth Taylor and Kris Kristofferson are also in the crowd.
I've seen this thing a dozen times I think, but we watched it again the other night -- pledge breaks and all -- and loved it.

Also watched the "Concert for George" the other night. Another pledge drive showing, but I had not seen this. I've had "Wah Wah" playing in my head ever since!

2. showd concert for George the other week
which in my opinion they probably should have kept it until pledge week. It hadn't been shown around here before on PBS so many Iowans hadn't seen it. I never donate large sums to PBS but might have paid that night if only to see Clapton play with the Indian musicians!!

3. Orbison was THE greatest white singer in rock 'n' roll history!
Even better than Elvis, IMHO, and that's saying a lot.

4. Also Jackson Browne on vocals
and Tom Waites on piano IIRC. Haven't seen it in awhile.

That's a great show.

7. That was close to 20 years ago, I fear!
We all looked different back then!
