Anyone else here feel Jackson Browne's "Lives in the Balance"
is very relevant today?
Such great lyrics; For America, Soldier of Plenty, Lives in the Balance, Till I Go Down, and Black & White.
Love this CD.

1. Yep.
Listened to it just the other day and thought, "Well, another day, another war."

2. The song "Lives in the Balance" makes me cry every time I hear it.
But I still love it.

3. "I wanna know who the men in the shadows are
I wanna hear somebody askin' them why,
they can be counted on to tell us who are enemies are,
but they're never the ones to fight or to die."

"From the rocket's red glare,
a generation's blank stare..."

Yeah, in 1986 I felt like the only person in America who even heard this album. It holds up really well, imho. All the songs you listed are great, and I loved the one about the hole in the wall bout the size of a fist, like something thrown that had missed, and a heart dropped in it, etc etc.

Now I have to go look for it on CD tonight! Thanks a lot!

4. The song your thinking of is "In the Shape of a Heart".
That song means a lot to me as well, but for more personal reasons. It reminds me of my first marriage.
