I will never forget eating at the "Hog Farm's" outdoor soup kitchen at Woodstock and seeing Wavy Gravy speak to the crowd.
He was amazing anf beautiful.
7 years later I had the opportunity to speak after him at a protest against corporate democrats (Carter) at the 1976 Democratic convention outside Madison Square Garden.
THAT was an exciting event.
Meeting the icon and being on the same soapbox ( a truck with loadspeakers that we spoke from the top of)
He was doing the "Nobody for President" routine and it was perfect/
If Bush wasn't so bad (Ford was a bumbling imbecile and Carter, a Rockefeller selection, was from my perspective then - a Trilaterlist who was likely to be just as bad as Ford if not worse -- altho I was more naive then) I would be a NOBODY FOR PRESIDENT proponent this year.
Thanks for posting this - this brings back fond memories. Carter was, in retrospect, not extremely bad on many issues, but he was a weak pawn of the elites.
I am hoping that Kerry will be strong enough to NOT be a pawn. That he will be governed by some degree of moral obligation to America and to the future of humanity. Maybe his wealth and his Catholicism and his ethnic background will make him NOT another WASPy terrorist from the corporate right and their elitist cabal.
