Mushrooms growing in soil in house plants. Problem or not

My wife is freaked out over them, and I think it is not that big a problem and can be fixed. She wants to pitch the plants.

Your help would be appreciated.

I just means that conditions are right for mushroom growth. I am always pulling mushrooms out of my several terrariums.

on edit: Depending on the type of plant those conditions could be a problem (to much moisture).

...the compost mixes being added to organic potting soils. They're just decomposing the organic material in the soil mix. Remember too that the mushrooms are just the fruiting bodies-- if you have mushroms, the fungal hyphae have been there for much longer, and have done no damage. Some might even be mychorhizal and beneficial.

If they bother you, pick 'em and throw them away. Otherwise, enjoy the free bonus growth in your potted plants!

9. One bag of potting soil was full of gnats

It has made homelife interesting, never knowing what will drop by for dinner.

I'd rather have the mushrooms.

8. Gee, I buy forest floor mushroom compost to enrich my soil.

Just dig them back into the dirt, so pets or kids don't eat them and enjoy the free fertilizer.
