Stupid question about radio
which occurred to me with the launch of the liberal radio station on 3/31. Is there such a thing as a radio that picks up stations from all over? I'd really love to get a new radio for my office and be able to pick up stuff from all over - especially since there's so much that's not broadcast over the net.

1. Shortwave signals travel all over the world

They bounce off the ionosphere.

The following link is provided as an example, not an endorsement of this particular radio.

The sound quality sucks but you can hear news and music from all over the world. When I was a kid I used to stay up late listening to news and propaganda broadcasts from everywhere.

2. Satellite radio covers the whole country.
Offered by 2 companies: Sirius and XM. Like satellite TV, it has a monthly subscription fee. Sirius is the more "lefty" company. Primarily designed for vehicles, they now make a unit you can use in your car or around the house/office (it pulls out and goes with you).

'net radio is probably the best for you (its free, no new hardware req'd). Look around, there's probably more stuff to stream than you realize.

4. I suspect if this unit can play the 'net radio station, so can your PC.
