Where can I find a Drug Store that will mix me a nice ice cream soda?
Jigger of cream in the bottom followed by a blob of vanilla, a spoon of chocolate syrup, a spray of fizzy water, and a dollop of whipped cream on top

Still remember watching that routine. Can't remember when I last sat at drug store food counter, though

4. Yeah, I've been there. I remember it as a pretty small place. I thought they'd closed it.
Maybe I'm thinking of the Weir's country store that was behind it

Everything around them has changed a lot, but Weir's and the pharmacy keep chugging along. :)

10. Yeah, I remember that area. That 7-11 ripped me off during one of the late 1970s oil panics:
there was a law you had to buy at least 10 gallons of gas at a time, unless your tank was actually smaller than ten gallons

I had a little VW -- nice little ragtop screaming tin-can-o-death that got 50mpg tuned, with a tank that probably held only 8.5 or 9 gallons at most. I filled up at that place, having driven my car to as near empty as I dared, and squeezed something like 8 gallons into it: and the mofos charged me for 10 gallons. I pointed out the tank wouldn't hold ten, the idiot said You should have driven around until the tank would hold ten, we went around in circles, and since I'd idiotically given him a big bill, I was out whatever two gallons cost back then

13. you will be happy to know that the 7-11 is now closed
It closed a few months ago, and now serves as valet lot for a couple of restaurants across the street.

5. My mother just goes to the local ice cream stores and gives explicit
instructions on how to make one. For some reason, they always make it for her even though the kids working have no idea what she is talking about when she orders one.
