PUI rant on argument against government spending
Edited on Sat May-02-09 05:56 AM by RandomThoughts
I am so dismayed, people are living in the 1800s. While in the reality of today, production has out stripped demand in current society, all the formulas of free trade capitalism are irrelevant.

(if old schoolers had there way)Look 300 years forward, imagine every thing needed by society, all ipods, computers, houses, food, everything can be made by machines and 10% of population running those machines. That's right there is massive unemployment, Why? because production has surpassed any possible demand.

This is the reason for '1984' building of war, or consumerism, to create a demand. But it is futile, because of trends.

So what is the solution, some part of society needs to step in and either create demand, or give people something to do to lower production. But nooooo, people scream, why do we work and they don't, then that capability to build everything needed becomes irrelevant, since while 10% can build everything, 90% can't buy any of it. so even the only 10% working goes down to 5%. People starve and suffer, not for lack of ability but because of distribution systems.

It pisses me off that people are arguing free market no social spending or taxes, based on a model that last worked when people pulled plows by horse, it is pathetically silly.

Production has outstripped demand.

Let me say it again. Production has outstripped demand. Pay for people to sit in class rooms, pay for doctors to treat sick people, pay for programs for science an art. Do anything to create demand, Give people 10 weeks vacation a year, then pay for them to have ball parks, beaches, and concerts to go to.

Its not that complicated.

We are not in Adam Smith's world, production exceeds demands and all demand can be met with a good distribution system.
