Can someone help me troubleshoot my PC - either the P/S or the M/B or both are bad...

A few months ago, I was using my computer one night and the HD died. I knew it was going bad since I was getting a "BAD disk, please replace" error, but I was just holding off buying a new one.

Anyways, that happened and then I took it out and tried booting without it. Well, this is where it gets weird. I now have only the minimum components installed - Motherboard (Asus P5B Deluxe), CPU (Core 2 Duo E6400) and a Power Supply (OCZ 580W? - forgot exactly how much) and the 2GB DDR2 memory.

When I plug in the p/s to the ac outlet and hit the p/s switch, the fans start spinning (including the CPU fan) and I get a flickering light on the motherboard. But nothing powers up. No POST. I try to hit the power switch but that makes no difference.

I'm thinking it's the motherboard and/or the Power Supply. What do you think?

That will reset everything back to default values. Sometimes if you remove a drive it thinks there's an error and halts. Reseat the memory.
I've had various Pentium boards just quit for no reason.

You need a power supply tester to check the PS, 24 pin.
