11. I like that.
Reminds me of southern summers by the Mississippi River with humid weather and cicads in the trees. I just read one of those manga books about the great blues man, Robert Johnson and he used a broken Coca-Cola bottle neck to make the slide sound. One of the characters in the book, Clyde Barrow (yep, that's the one!) was so awed by his style he took RJ with him on his road to hell. The book is in 3 parts but only 2 are out so far.

7. That was great. Thanks for posting it. One of my favorite guitarists...
Derek Trucks solo with the Allman Brothers during Desdemona. He picks up the slide about half way thru...

Warren Haynes & Derek...they noodle around a bit until about 1:58

9. Saw him in 1998 with the Allman Brothers and Steve Earle
I was gob smacked especially when he was standing under a picture of Duane Allman while shredding the audience with his playing.

10. That would have been before he was an "official" member of ABB
and around the same time I saw him first perform with the Derek Trucks Band. He played at the (sadly, now closed) Stanhope House in NJ where a friend of mine did some promoting. We helped carry his gear into the place and hung out with him before the show. He was 18 and had just finished up playing a few guests spots on the ABB tour. He officially joined the band full time a few months later. He was so mellow and laid back even as he was telling us about how he used to jam with all kinds of blues legends when he was just a kid. He told us a great story about how when he was 10 or 11 he taught Bob Dylan some blues licks. He told it so matter-of-factly, like it was no big deal.

He's one of the coolest people I've ever met and has melted my face off on more than a few occasions, almost making me believe Duane was somewhere in the room playing alongside him.

13. Agree
100% I think Duane's soul found a new body- Think about it if you have never known anything different.... Teaching bob dylan some licks? A "normal" person couldn't possibly fathom being in the same room with the guy let alone giving him some advice. Pitty he didn't give Bob a few singing lessons:)

instead of wasting energy on appearances. Classy player!
