ANIMAL PEOPLE - I NEED YOUR HELP NOW!
My Mastiff managed to find a grown rabbit in the dog pen. She had it in her mouth. I wrestled her and managed to pry her jaw open to release the rabbit. I opened the gate for the rabbit to run, but she wouldn't run. Instead, she tried to push herself through the chainlink fence. Now her head is caught in the fence. WHAT THE FUCK DO I DO????? Can I handle her? And if so, how?

1. Get some bolt cutters and go to town on the fence
around the bunny's head. Wear heavy gloves. I can't think of anything else to do. :(

4. I don't own the house - I rent.
No way in hell they'd let me cut the fence. They'd tell me to forget about her. They see rabbits, groundhogs, et al as rodents. They couldn't care less. :(

2. Put on some HEAVY gloves
because you are going to get bitten.

All I can suggest is trying to gently move her head out of the fence.

But the gloves go on first.

3. I don't know if it's going to be possible
To handle the rabbit..if you try to handle it, it may panic and break it's neck. I suspect the only way to free it will be sedation. Perhaps you can call animal control?

6. I called - no answer. Left a message.
Natasha had her but GOOD. Jesus. The poor thing appeared to be playing dead. It's pouring rain out there and she's shaking like a leaf.

8. There might be nothing you can do
The rabbit may be exhausted and if it's able to calm down it MAY be able to free itself...

5. call your local wildlife and fisheries officer NOW!
ffs...there are times when typing on the internets won't do and this is one of them

get help, immediately, a life could be at stake here

i would get on the horn and call my contacts in animal rescue until i got one of them on the phone, but if you have no such contacts, the place to start is usually to call wildlife and fisheries (for wild animals) and ask them who to contact, they'll KNOW the go-to person for your area

please, go now

you could even call animal control and see if they have ideas, they often know animal rescue folks too

good luck, and please...HURRY!!!

(i do not handle/touch wild rabbits because there have been distemper cases in my area, yet this might not be a concern where you are at all...just call someone LOCAL and find out...NOW)

11. Okay. She wriggled herself out of the chainlink.
She's still in the dogpen, eyeing me up. She doesn't want to leave.

We have a deck in the dogpen with latticework underneath. Last year, a momma had her babies there; from the way she's acting, I'm thinking this could be a round two. I'll be keeping an eye out for her tonight - but in the meantime, I left the gate open, in case she decides to leave.

Thanks for everything! :)

13. I just went out there again.
She's sitting in a corner between the house and chimney. I hope she's gonna make a move soon - it's getting dark.

15. I guess she's just looking for shelter while she collects herself
You have seen her move? So she has no obvious spinal injury?

19. Many times, the shock of the incident can and is enough to
do harm on its own. Not the actual physicality of the attack, but the trauma of it to the rabbit's endocrine system, etc.

Crazy rabbit may literally will itself to death. Try offering water (leave it close), and something warm up beside it, like a thick stack of old leaves. If there is no physical damage, warmth and hydration is what it may need to get over the shock....if you leave the door open, it will leave on its own at some point if it is able. Also, a rabit's defense is to freeze when threatened...so I may not be able to get out of that "state"

Gah, I hope this makes sense.
