It is one of my dream destinations but I am always worried my romanticized visions of it will not live up to the reality.
Was this your first trip?
If so, did it live up to your expectations?
Where all did you go? Recommendations?

Some answers:

Don't have a romanticized vision, of course. Just enjoy what Hawaii has to offer. Find the road off the beaten path, 4-wheel drive it if you have to, don't stay at fancy resorts (stay away from Honolulu, unless you like the city life).

Nope, not my first trip. Been to Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Molokai... not Nihau, though, yet.

Hawaii always lives up to my expectations. Always.

We had to overnight in Honolulu (our fault, since we missed the earlier flight). Then we stayed on Hawaii (Kona area). The island, Hawaii, that is.

Recommendations? I have many. It depends on what you like. Kauai and Molokai are the most like "old Hawaii" from what I understand. Maui is becoming an Oahu II... but it has a little bit of everything. Hawaii (sometimes called "The Big Island") is where Kilauea is... something everyone should see at least once! I could go on & on... feel free to send me a PM if you have a specific question.
