The new Microsoft commercial...
2GB isn't enough to do video editing on a Mac?

How come disk RPM speed isn't mentioned?

OS X uses 512MB by itself. There's plenty left to do real work. More is always better, but I wouldn't worry about Apple wasting RAM...

Vista needs about 2GB for itself to really run efficiently... And then, for video editing, get 4GB (and if it's a 32-bit version of Vista you're stuck with 3.2GB due to OS limitations!)

Microsoft is going to be toast. They should be focusing on their strengths over shoehorning their way into venues they have nary a clue in.

So much the better.

1. Microsoft for business, Macs for New Media, and *nix for real work.

2. Macs are good for "real work" too.
They're seen as being in a graphics niche (rightly so), but the OS is so fine-tuned (and has components of *nix (BSD)) that it qualifies. These machines are well made too, but beware the occasional tight screw... which is better than using Microsoft and letting one's own screws go loose due to that slop.

Microsoft Windows is great for games. And if the games were built for OS X, they'd likely run faster anyway.
