Did you know today is a National Day of Prayer?
Neither did I.

But, while driving to get my free sub at Quick Chek (bite it, Wawa) I passed a sign on the sidewalk in front of the park informing me that today was a National Day of Prayer. Apparently, not many people know about it, because I only saw two people in attendance. One was holding a sign that said, "God is Love."

2. Did not know. It means as much to me as national unicycling day.
Either way, they are activities I do not do.

3. People who are likely to observe this...
... probably pray every day anyway.

I know I do..... if just to ask to make it through the day.

6. Yes, especially since I just found out it's a Focus on the Family thing
I guess that explains why there weren't a lot of people there. Not too many Fundies around here. Mostly Catholic or Jewish.

7. I need to live where you live then...
'Cause Texas is almost ALL fundies. I would love to live in a non-Bible Belt state some day.

8. and along these lines, how would you respond to someone saying they'll be praying for you?
I wish I had the guts to say "And I'll dance naked under the next full moon for you."

9. I think for me it would depend
On whether or not I thought the person was being a holier-than-thou condescending prick.

If so, then yeah, I'd respond the way you'd like to.

If I truly thought it was being said with loving intentions, then I'd say "thank you"

4. I pray that no close-minded bigots are praying for my salvation
and I also pray that other spiritual, prayer-oriented individuals are praying for a better, more peaceful world for all of us of every religion and creed to live in.

That's my prayer.

11. I did.
I woke up my roommates by reading the Lovecraft quotes and gibberish from the "Who will be eaten first?" Cthulu tract loudly.

12. Always makes me cringe
When it comes to the Establishment Clause in the 1st Amendment, I am a fundie. Things like government-sanctioned 'prayer days' get a little too close to breaching the wall of separation for my comfort level.

How about a National Day of Universal Civil Rights Awareness? You know, something constitutional.

(Officially neutral on WaWa vs. Quick Chek battle, as neither are to be found in on the left coast)
