Poll question: Annoying cliche throwdown!
Edited on Fri May-08-09 02:36 PM by Bossy Monkey
Sportscaster/sports fan platitude vs pretentious pompous NPR-type guy bromide, both saying exactly the same thing, which is to say, nothing. Full disclosure: Former girlfriend always claimed that I would one day have a radio show called "Be That As It May." I counterclaim that I never actually say that, but she's the one who had to listen to me, so I guess you can take her word for it.

1. "bring closure", "think out of the box", "your shop" for "your office",
"boots on the ground"

Sports category:

"team player" (It's a team sport, so that goes without saying doesn't it? Oops).

"he (she, this team) "plays with a lot of heart."

3. I added most of those, though a throwdown is usually between two,
usually people, but in this case cliches.

2. "Our guys really gave it 110 percent out there today."
The day I hear that at the Math Bowl... :eyes:

4. Added it, though as I note above, I was mainly asking what people's preference
(or uh, most greatly detested) was between the two specific annoying cliches. But what the hell, I had room.:)
