2300 sq. ft. house.
Don't think we had the a/c on at all.
It's on now and likely will be until October.

6. My water heater and heat are gas. Everything else is electric.
If it were my house I'd upgrade that, but I rent so my options for upgrading stuff are fairly limited.

for March was 103 as well, I haven't gotten Aprils in yet....

I had a couple of heaters on, and an oxygen machine plugged in 24/7, I have an inlaw living with us, and she requires an oxygen machine.

9. I don't know what our actual usage was - I'd have to look up the bill online.
We are on the budget plan, so we pay the same every month - $99. We haven't had any need for A/C so far, so our actual usage was probably slightly less than that.

The important thing is that we haven't had the heat on either, so our actual usage of natural gas dropped quite a bit. We pay $84 per month on the level pay plan for gas.

12. Wow...
you must have a big house/lots of people living with you. My parents average electric bill(SE Alaska) usually cruises between 300-500 a month...but there is 6 people in the household, and its a three story monster....and they use electric/oil.

15. It's actually worse in the winter.
The A/C isn't as bad as the heat, but at least we have separate vents in each room. I haven't turned on my heat in many years.

16. $54. Also,
I just bought a Mac. My computer wattage requirement just went from 750w to 200w (some online have claimed my iMac model only uses 135w under load but I'm not sure that reflects the monitor...)

17. Mine was $72. 2000 Sq. ft. house. 860-KWH
That was from 2/27-3/31 due the end of April. Our pump was still running for our boiler. I can't wait until my kid gets his fish tanks out of here. I wonder how much electricity those pumps and heaters take.

18. Fifty one dollars and change, but my propane bill was over $200.
Edited on Fri May-08-09 06:03 PM by Mike 03
My electricity bill will go up as we begin to move into temperatures here of over 100, you can bet.

My house is a lot smaller than yours which could account for some of the difference.

Interesting topic. I always love these threads that really address the reality of the economy.

ON EDIT: Just so you know, a $200 propane bill, where I live, is cheap. I've had as high as $500 heating bill for one month.

I am not sure what it would be if I weren't. But we have had our AC on. It was almost 90 here today.

20. Mine runs about $180-$230 in the winter and spring
But it's combined gas and electric (I have natural gas heat). I live in an 800 sq ft single-story 2-bedroom condo in a 120-year-old fourplex that was last rehabbed in 1980.

21. $130.00
But that's March & April, and includes trash. We had to turn the a/c on this week too...though that's not likely to be permanent just yet since it tends to cool down a bit in June here in SoCal.

25. Don't know we just had to rip out the water heaters that power our heat and air...
the NC Building codes changed and it cost us too much. Had to install a "Mixing Hat" so that elderly and young don't get scalded. Turns out I've just about been scalded from the damn in the shower since they forced the thing on us. And downstairs I can't get hot water unless I run the faucet for about three minutes. I have an Appolo Air/Heat System. Runs off our Water Heaters.

Looked into the "Tankless" and our guy tried to sell us on it...but for our design house we read complaints about the "Tankless" not allowing you to get hot water unless you wait...and not efficient for our system. Turns out the new water heaters don't allow hot water to come up for many minutes and in the shower you are scalded. What the hell was the regulation that made us pay extra $2,000 for water heaters to protect us from stuff they cause? Our old water heaters never had any problems with "temp adjusment." Now they say these new ones keep elderly and kids from scalding...but they don't.

Whatever. It can't all be tankless and sometimes there's errant regulation that makes a problem WORSE than the one it was supposed to SOLVE! Unhappy with thousands to be energy efficient and we are freezing and scalding. We have to get our first complete bill to know if there are any savings... So far, I'm not optimistic.
