wow, you know your town lacks a social scene when kids hang out at Taco bell
Edited on Sat May-09-09 09:32 PM by charlie and algernon
I had a huge lunch, so went out at 10 for a late dinner and went to Taco bell. Being that it was late and, you know, um, taco bell, I was shocked to see kids just hanging out chatting in the parking lot, lol. I never knew those taco bell commercials where everyone gathers there at 11pm were so close to the truth. :wtf:

i think this is a sign that I need to move to a bigger town, lol.

1. We hung out at Duchess all the time.
We would go there after every game to eat and hang out and then chill in the parking lot with some beers until the cops came.

2. When I was a teenager, kids would hang out at the Tom Thumb...
kids will always loiter somewhere.

8. I guess we were never the loitering type
we'd always just meet at someone's house and hang out all night.

9. I wasn't really either - in my younger teens I went to the roller rink
and in my older teens, we hung out at Perkins drinking coffee 'til all hours.

11. Perkins was a popular spot, as was Friendly's
After football games both those places were usually packed with kids. There were some fun times in Friendly's after games.

3. I used to live in a gated community near Houston. There was nothing to do
except hang out at the U-Totem. THAT is a dead neighborhood scene!

19. Ah, yes....
The U-Scrotum, as one of my old BFs called it.

I remember those before they turned into 7-11s and then Stop-N-Go.

Known colloquially at the court house as "Stop-N-Rob".

5. Well, once I was in Vega, Texas
on a road trip and we stopped at a Burger King because that was the only place in town we could find. It was very hot and windy (this was in late June 1997) and it was hot inside the Burger King too. They had ceiling fans, but all they did was blow the hot air around. I was amazed at how many people were inside it - almost every table was occupied. After we ordered our food I began to notice that most of the people there weren't even eating. They were just sitting there chatting or playing games. I guess that's the only place to hang out in that town. It was weird, like we were in some movie and had discovered the perfect place to go just after you've committed a murder. We got the hell out of that town as soon as we could - spotting an ominous-loooking storm on the horizon too.

Taco Bell at 10pm seemed to be the last spot I thought kids would hang out.

21. lol...holy crap I was just thinking that same thing to myself yesterday...
I have to drive past a Taco Bell on my way home from work and it was the second time in about 2 weeks that I noticed a large group of teenagers hanging in the parking lot of a Taco Bell. The first time was like 11pm on a Tuesday (don't these kids have to get up for school?)

Even at my most anti-establishment teen rebellion age I would never hang out in a Taco Bell parking lot. At the Denny's or in a pinch inside the Dunkin Donuts (which consequently is in the same shopping center)...but Taco Bell? Yuck!

I don't know maybe I'm just getting old and crabby because large groups of teenagers just about anywhere are starting to piss me off.

Though now I could kind of go for some Taco Bell

22. perhaps they're taking those commericals literally
the ones where groups of teens show up at taco bell after 11 to eat "fourth meal" off the new value menu, lol. As I said upthread, it was always Perkins or friendly's for my high school friends, we never would've considered loitering at taco bell.

26. The Park
Local parks are awesome at night. Assuming there are no random killers roaming around. That's where we used to hang though. Go take a girl for a nice night swing on the playground.

25. At a nearby redneck town it's the local McDonalds here
Bunch of drunk redneck idiots sitting around in the back of their pickups in the McDonalds parking lot in this one-stoplight type town near me. I'm afraid to even go there at night - being a guy with long hair. Freaky.

That was the strangest damned thing I've ever seen: teenagers milling around in/outside the Walgreens, cruising the parking lot...

Yeah, the drug store. No, I don't get it either.

hangout, as was a local ice cream and burger place in the county fairgrounds that was more of an older car / hot rod place.
