Most underrated American Rock Band....
Paul Revere and the Raiders...

From 1967-69 they sold more albums in America than anyone but the BEatles and the Stones...No other rock & roll band has experienced the roller coaster ups and downs in reputation that Paul Revere & the Raiders have known across 40 years in music. One of the most popular and entertaining groups of the 1960s, they enjoyed 10 years of serious chart action, and during their three biggest years (1966-69) got as much radio play as any group of that decade, sold records in numbers second only to the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, and received nearly as much coverage in the music press of the period (which included a lot of teen fan magazines) as the Beatles or the Rolling Stones.

Now if they are going to put The Dave Clark Five in the Rock Hall, PRATR should be in there as well. The only reason the DCF were even considered in the upper echelon of rock acts from the 60's is because of the Beatles popularity.

1. Thanks for all those links!
I was pretty busy in those days, with a baby and all...

I managed to miss all the fun...

The first video reminded me, big time, of the Beatles...

The second one seemed to concentrate on the gyrating girls... ;)

2. Completely agree. The Raiders were HIGHLY underrated
It may have something to do with the costumes and the TV appearances. People seem to think of them as something akin to the Monkeys, when in fact they were a real, authentic, Pacific Northwest garage band who honed their chops over a decade of playing gigs everywhere.

If not for Paul Revere, you would not have a music scene in the Pacific Northwest-- and therefore, no grunge. The Raiders paved the way for all of that, and they deserve to be recognized for it.
