1. Sounds like a finch to me.
Probably a purple finch. Yellow finches use a LOT more notes!

3. The purple finch song on the Cornell site is too ornate for this...
The song I heard consisted of only the notes above, in a pure thin voice. After reading a bit, I'm wondering if it may have been a starling mimicking another bird...

5. hmm, neat question - I don't have time to run to the piano since I have drum
lessons, but I'll check it out later. (of course someone will have figured it out by then! )

7. The tone is really similar to the white throat
The tempo was slightly slower, and the bird sang the notes I wrote out verbatum, including the pitch but with a longer space than a quarter rest between the 1st and second parts of the call...as if he was questioning and answering himself.
