Rainy day here, so trotting along came Sparky. Hadn't time to change the big lense, so there's some DOF problem because of the short distance.

(Salamandra salamandra salamandra)

4. Not really handsome, this one.
Pretty poisonous. But the snakes and frogs we mostly have here are not. ;)

Thanks! :hi:

Thanks CMW!!!

I am not around too much, but just got lucky and found this! :D I am defending my PhD dissertation next Friday (!!!) and just started a new project, working with blue-spotted salamanders. Here is a great picture of one that i just found on the web.

Hope all is well with you! :hi:

(ETA, i LOVE the mander belly in the second pic... squee!)

12. Thank you, Dr. SallyMander! ;)
All's well here, and a couple of days ago I actually found (besides frogs, waterbugs and dragonfly larvae and what else) one of these in my little, mostly untouched pond for the first time:

Triturus cristatus

Those blue-spotted ones are real beauties! Especially if the blue is this turquoise.

14. Yep, that's what we call these.
Not sure if the 'fire' part is related to their bright-yellow or orange patterns or the poison. :hi:
