Have you ever participated in a pledge drive and then
when you went to collect $$$ the person says, "I don't have the money." Damn...now I have to pay what they don't want to pay now. "Can't you just tell them I don't have the money?" NO. I can't tell them that. A pledge is a pledge. Flakes !!!

1. No, but I have been a public radio volunteer
both on and off-air and gotten so into the habit of answering the phone with the station's call letters, that I would then do the same thing with my home phone :P

2. No, but I had the opposite happen once.
We pledged $100 toward a fundraiser to benefit Katrina victims being housed at Camp Dawson (a local Army base) that a friend was participating in, and gave him the money in advance. It was a campout with no electricity, running water, etc. that was being held on school grounds. We found out later that he kept the money himself and claimed that we didn't pay up. Apparently, we were not the only people that this guy suckered in. :(

Let's just say that he's not a friend anymore.
