I have a question for you though...We sat on the Tarmac for 10-15 minutes because the paperwork on our weight wasn't right..what does that mean? Just curious. It was good to see you guys last night..

3. When an airplane doesn't have its correct weight data
it can't legally take off. The way it works, basically, is you get a flight release that says the airplane weighs a certain amount, and that weight has to be within its legal takeoff limit. The weight also determines the airplane's takeoff speeds. Well before the airplane leaves the gate they already know how much it will probably weigh because they know how many tickets have been sold and how much fuel it will need. Then after pushback the final weight data (based on how many passengers actually boarded and some other factors) is sent to the airplane through a datalink service called ACARS. This basically has to match, or at least not exceed, the original flight release numbers. If it doesn't, they can't take off until they figure out what the discrepancy is. Sometimes the dispatchers can recalculate fuel loads, or eliminate a filed alternate airport if necessary, to make it all match, but it could take 10 minutes or so to work out.

That's probably more information than you wanted, but (greatly simplified), that's how it works. It doesn't happen that way very often because the procedure is quite accurate, but of course it would happen to you. ;)

6. huh.
No thank you, that was interesting to know I wonder if that was why they were moving blankets and other stuff around in the cabin then..And I had a good flight crew today..the pilot was really good about being "tour guide" about what we were flying over.
We also had a nice drive around the airport too..that might have been the longest taxi I ever had but we still got in on time! Great tail wind I think...
