Haven't seen it in years, and just love it.

You?

Or is there something else that brings you back.... way back?

6. When it was hot, sometimes we would put them in the fridge for a few minutes.
But not too long! Just long enough to get them off the wax paper.

They are better gooey, imho.

While other candy bars were a nickel, Powerhouse cost a dime! It was a quarter of a pound of candy!

It was like a Baby Ruth on steroids.

<Edit to add> And I was never able to finish one at one sitting. They were incredibly rich.

My sister and I loved 'em. They were just chocolate-covered caramel.

(on edit: Doesn't the design of that label just encompass everything '70s?)

I guess these are the modern-day equivalent:

29. Idaho Spuds, and Mountain Bars...
Edited on Mon May-18-09 05:50 PM by petersond
most people don't remember those candy bars at all. My mom would always send me to the store for Idaho Spuds, and my dads favorite was Mountain Bars, so I'd usually raid their stash, but more so my dads stash, cause Idaho spuds really didn't do it for me. My mom was almost always pregnant when I was growing up, so I'd have to run to the store often for Idaho Spuds, and various other treats.....

Oh, and Pilot Bread(Sailor Bread), I haven't seen those in...AGES.

in over...shit, since like 93...same with mountain bars, those were great. I didn't like the coconut/marshmellow in the Spuds, but my mother was a coconut hound when she was pregnant...I did like it when she went on Mounds/Almond Joy benders, now those...I dig those.

I don't eat candy bars very often at all - usually one of the kids will give me an Almond Joy along with my birthday present. :)
