Last night we heard our first whippoorwill of the season. Ah....
And the honeysuckle is in bloom, and it is intoxicating.

I love the green, loamy smell of the woods that surround our house, and that I drive through on both sides on a good portion of my commute. I love the praying mantises and the Brunos (giant bumblebees) and the butterflies.

And the birds! We feed a startling variety of beautiful, lovely-voiced birds.

I am SO going to miss living here.

3. Southern California -- after Mrs. V. retires
So I have a while yet to enjoy my surroundings.

Wish you could join us here for a while to enjoy them, too.

Hey - we feed a lone blue grosbeak. :7

2. Sounds lovely.
For about a month, I caught a whiff of jasmine as I drove into my drive. They're pretty much over now but it was so nice. I'm so glad I planted them last year just to have that month of beautiful scent greet me at night.

And were are you moving to???

4. I can't wait to smell the night-blooming jasmine again.
I told Mrs. V. that we're planting it under our bedroom window once we've moved to So. Cali.

5. And you'll have orange blossoms too, I trust.
One of my most pleasant sensory memories from my time living in the Rio Grande Valley.

Moonlight and orange blossoms and jasmine, ahhhhhh.
