Pseudo-serious Constitutional Admendment.
Edited on Tue Aug-12-03 06:56 AM by The Lone Liberal
Why don’t we just rent a government? We could hold open bidding and then we select the best bid and let a contract for four years. This system of selling the government every four years stinks. We are not getting the best return on investment; all of the profits are inurring to the management of the purchasers. A rental contract is much easier to revoke than a purchase contract. This should be a constitutional amendment. “Rent-a-Government Amendment.”

Either that or a daily bidding on the government where the members of the Legislature would stand on the Capitol steps and shout “Legislation for sale, get your legislation right here. Come on over here young man, I got a piece of legislation for you. Legislation for sale.” ON EDIT: If the Legislator does not daily declare he is selling us out it would be a criminal offense with life imprisonment in Planet Hollywood.

Either one would be more open and above board than the current system where Gucci loafers slither into that skunk DeLay’s office under the cloak of darkness to cut a deal that deals us out.

Next we could consider just outright selling off all the National Parks……

1. How about privatizing the government....
and awarding the contract to Kellogg Brown & Root??? They have done such a terrific job of providing logistical support to the troops in Iraq.

Okay, maybe Bechtel should get a piece of the pie as well.

2. Another thought that came to me while driving to the office....
The disgraced Admiral Poindexter can "redeem" himself after the recent Terrorism Future Markets fiasco by proposing something similar. Instead, he can set up a Legislator Futures Market. Players will be the K Street boys who will bet on which legislator can be persuaded (wink, wink, nod, nod) to introduce, then strongarm enough of his fellow representatives to pass the lobbyist's pet piece of legislation.
