Why the Hell would Sam Adams make a Dimatap flavored Beer
I enjoy seeking out new beers and new taste flavor combination. Sam Adams is one of my default beers. They are great with burgers and I enjoy their summer beer. I saw their Blackberry Witbier at the grocery store a decided to give it a whirl. Yuck! It tastes like Dimatap I swear to god. I didn't want to waste beer so I proceeded to get inebriated and still couldn't drink it and I poured it out. Ifeel as though I committed a sin.

1. I know what you mean.
I tried some kind of cherry wheat ale they made last summer, and it tasted exactly like cough syrup.

Yuk.

3. The only reason I tried it is because Sam is reliable
I have had hefe's with subtle citrus notes and a Winter ale with a hint of peach but this was way tooo much

4. As it happens, that just makes me want to try it
My memory of Dimetapp is that it was delicious (in stark contrast to Robitussin. Drinking that shit was the doomsday scenario. As a kid, I always hoped to be sick enough for Dimetapp but not sick enough for Robitussin).

6. Wheat beers tend to be lacking in naturally strong flavors
so the tradition is to flavor it with some sort of fruit. They tend to be light and great for a hot summer day.

Dercent beer, refreshing on a hot day, but not as refreshing as a well made gin and tonic, IMHO.

New Glarus's Raspberry Tart is yummy, too. despite the fact it's expensive, and the wax on the bottle makes it tough to open.

9. It's all a matter of knowing what to expect
in my opinion. If you don't like beer with a fruit flavor, it's best to stick with the ales or lagers.

8. I'm torn.
On the one hand I hate hate hate sweet beers.

On the other hand, I am fighting a nasty cold, and the concept of beer-flavored Dimatap is somewhat intriguing.
