3. I never measure, but I am sure you can determine amounts.
This is a more healthy version and people love it. Of course you can use potatoes if you want. Lightly steam cauliflower. Pour a little white wine vinegar over it while it is still hot. Chop some celery, yellow onion, dill pickles and red bell pepper. Once the cauliflower has cooled, mix with your chopped vegetables, mayonnaise and mustard.

6. My mom have a great cauliflower recipe.

It's simple to make but I've never been able to get it right.

Steamed cauliflower with a cheese sauce poured on them. The sauce is pretty low fat

and she add a pinch or two of curry plus other spices that I can't remember

right now.Sometimes she replace the cauliflower with broccoli and make a

thicker sauce without curry.Yummy.:)

9. Not sure Jeff.
I make cheese sauce by making a basic white sauce and whisking in cheddar cheese and Dijon mustard.

Maybe what you are missing isn’t really tangible, we are talking about mother’s cooking here after all.:)

13. mine: 1. always use red potatoes. 2. slice them up and steam them
yep, steam them in the steamer, then cool them down in the refrigerator

While they are cooling, cut up the celery, onion, dill pickle, and hard boiled eggs. Sometimes I use green olives instead of pickles. Sometimes I add celery salt.

I mix reduced fat Hellman's Mayo and coarse grain mustard together and mix it all up together.

The steamed red potatoes are fantastic.

16. Mine: No onions or green peppers!
I always have to pick those out of "other peoples' " salads.

I just use celery, chopped eggs, and chopped sweet pickles with fat-free Miracle Whip. Sprinkle in some seasoned pepper and a little paprika. I think it's perfect.

of waxy potatoes steamed and cut into slices, then doused with a half cup of white wine. The dressing has olive oil, crushed fresh garlic, S&P, dijon mustard and a tablespoon of fresh chopped tarragon. Drain any remaining wine before tossing the potatoes and dressing together, along with some snipped chives.

This is GOOD.

potatoes, hard boiled eggs, onions, sweet pickle relish, mayo, bit of mustard, celery seed, salt to taste.

I like a lot of eggs and onions, personally. Oh and you MUST dump a can of black olives on the top before serving (but don't mix them in - ewwww olives in food!)

25. Call Mom. Ask her to make potato salad.
:D

Seriously, my mother's potato salad is the best I have ever tasted. I have her method (which is really more a method than a recipe; she never measures), and despite 25 years of trying, I have never been able to duplicate her flavor exactly. The only way I get Mom's potato salad is if Mom herself makes it.

The dressing consists of mashed egg yolk, vinegar, mustard, mayo, finely minced onion, salt and a dash of sugar, which is poured over cubed cooked potatoes, sliced green onion, and chopped egg white.

26. Potatoes, boiled eggs, mayo and mustard to taste, a little pepper and salt if you must.
I like to taste to the potato and eggs, and not relish and celery and whatever else people use.

Also, if you can pour it or drain it or if oozes down an inclined plate, you did it wrong.

33. Philly style requires
Hard boiled eggs, shelled, and chilled; boiled red potatoes cubed - just so; pan fry bacon; pour bacon grease over hot potatos; crumble bacon and put aside; Hellman's real stuff only; some sour cream; thinly sliced celery, onion (or not); little red color (pimento?); add a little lemon juice; add crumbled bacon and chop a few of the hb eggs; save remaining halved eggs for the top; white pepper; salt a bit if you want; sprinkle with paprika after decorating w/egg halves -
Chill thoroughly - YUM!

For dilled salad: omit bacon grease and bacon; eggs optional too!
Add fresh chopped dill and dillweed seasoning to dressing -

36. i've always like this one...
there's nothing particularly fancy about it but it always comes out good and better the next day. It's from the ol' Better Homes & Gardens cookbook which has a few things that I return to over the years.
I use Miracle Whip for the mayo and put in the celery seed.

POTLUCK POTATO SALAD

1/4 c. clear French dressing with spices & herbs
4-5 med. potatoes, cooked in jackets, peeled & cubed (4 c.)
1 c. chopped celery
1/4 c. chopped onion
4 hard cooked eggs, sliced
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. mayonnaise

Pour French dressing over warm potatoes; chill 2 hours. Add celery, onion, eggs and salt; add mayonnaise and mix carefully. Add 1 teaspoon celery seed, if desired. Chill 4 hours. Makes 8 servings.

Duke's Potato Salad
Ingredients

2 lbs. red potatoes, boiled and cubed
3 hard boiled eggs, chopped
1-2.2 oz. can sliced black olives
1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped
1/2 cup celery, chopped
1/2 cup sweet pickles, finely chopped
1/2 cup cooked bacon, finely chopped
1 cup Duke's Mayonnaise
1 Tbsp. Sauer's Mustard
1 1/2 tsp. sweet pickle juice
1 1/2 tsp. white vinegar
1/2 tsp. Sauer's Black Pepper
1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
In a large bowl mix all ingredients. Refrigerate 1 hour or overnight.

I think Duke's is pretty much available in stores only in the South though. No other mayo comes close imo.

38. Estonian potato salad
It's very simple.

Boiled, peeled, cubed, cold potatoes
Sliced green onions

Toss with a dressing made with 1/2 Hellmann's mayonnaise and 1/2 sour cream. Add salt and pepper to taste.

To trim the calories a bit, use reduced fat mayo and sour cream.

You can also add chopped hard boiled eggs.

40. I prefer a warm vinegar-based dressing
AKA boiled dressing. The still-warm potatoes are tossed with an herbed vinaigrette, then chilled.
The flavor seeps all the way through the taters.
