I need to brag for a minute. My youngest child scored a perfect
score on his third grade math TAKS test. He has some nasty ADD, so the only accomodation made was that he took the test with a smaller, quieter group. He didn't take a modified test.

2. Thanks, our oldest is severely autistic. He met his
assigned expectations on his TAKS also, but he is 12, performing at the level of a firt-second grader, and cannot be included in regular classrooms. Our youngest has problems with reading comprehension, but he is handling the math really well, and it requires alot of reading also.

Yes, this is a big deal for our family.

9. Thank you! It's been a tough run. His ADD med runs out
in the early evening. I have to push him really hard to get him to do his homework early enough so he is able to concentrate and learn.

8. Wednesday afternoon. Last week his teacher knew he had scored well,
saying "three or less" were incorrect. I really didn't know what that meant until I got the report!

Good luck to your third grader! We DUers have some smart kids!

12. Yeah, we've been partying it up a little! Celebratory dinner
out at Jason's Deli last night.

I'm already lining up various things for him to do this summer to keep his mind active: a music appreciation class at a private home, and I am getting him to write in a journal every day. He really doesn't like writing, and we need to change that. He'll be state-tested on it next year.
