Even the operators on 411 have been replaced by machines !!
I just called 411 to get a business number and was directed through a tedious automatic system that eventually gave me the number I needed, but it left me feeling a bit odd from the complete lack of any human interaction.

Weird. I wonder how long it's been that way? I hadn't called 411 in a long time, apparently.

Can't help but think of all those human operators whose jobs have been replaced by machines.

I guess that's what this world is coming to. :(

On the other hand, I've made some good personal connections through the advent of technology, DU being a good example, so I guess it's a toss up.

Technology: it's a LOVE-HATE relationship. The polarity is thought-provoking.

Hmmm....

1. Technology is taking too many jobs away.

Well, it's not literally the technology that's doing it, it's the greedy bastards running everything who realize they can have even more money in their pockets by getting rid of as many workers as possible.

2. It's not wholly a bad thing.
The need for technology professionals to develop, support and analyze those systems creates some jobs, too.

3. And 411 cost has gone up considerably.
I think it is like 75 cents a pop!

5. Because nobody is willing (or able) to use it...
So prices go up to 'retain profitability'.

4. 411 has been automated for quite a while. You'll still get a live person, though -
if the automated system can't find what you're looking for.

6. Then they cut to a live operator who makes you repeat everything.
what's the point of that?
