Today my 12 1/2 yr old daughter informed me she wants to start shaving her legs.
"Mom, ALL my friends are doing it now!"

I told her once she starts, there's no going back.

Sigh....My little girl is growing up!

Today, shaving.

Tomorrow, ?????

Yikes.

1. Yup, my daughter (almost 15) started about 2 years ago
Childhood spins by in the blink of an eye.

On the other hand, my 17-year-old son refuses to shave and hides his sideburns with his long curly hair. (sigh) At least he's finally gotten the hang of daily showers.

3. Huh, my son has resisted that too
He just recently said he wants to start driving lessons. I had no particular need to rush him, between being a chronic worrier and the fact that our insurance rates are likely to skyrocket.

4. Two weeks ago my 13 1/2 year old announced that he will never shave
and desires a walrus mustache like Jamie Hyneman from Mythbusters. :{

They grow up too fast. He had only peach fuzz last summer..

9. I think it shows
that she is taking pride in her appearance. Now is when she will set self care habits that will benefit her for a lifetime.

At about that age I took my mother's razor and confidently started shaving.. or should I say gouging... my legs. My mother wanted to be mad at me but she figured that I had learned my lesson.

Sure did. Have hated it ever since.

16. I avoid it as much as possible...
Winter in MA? Hell no. My legs don't see a razor from November to April, unless I have to wear a dress or something. Graduation week...I put it off as long as possible, shaved before convocation, and that was it. Ugh. Such a waste of my time.

17. When I was eleven, my mom very thoughtfully left a razor and a
deodorant on the foot of my bed. The trip to Kmart for a bra wasn't far behind. I needed a little hint, myself. Like others have said, it's good that she wants to pay attention to her appearance. I don't think this leads to multiple piercings and bared midriffs. Not yet anyway.

(It's shaving the pitties that are the real trick--you might want to get her one of those electric/battery shavers. I know I tore myself up a time or two because I couldn't figure out how to shave what I really couldn't see. Ouch--pitty-cuts!)
