Guess what
After 24 hours ... my old boss decided that my business venture is going to take up too much of my time soooo He fired me!

I wish he had said that earlier this week so I could have seen a few old friends
instead of hurrying back home.

1. How did he figure that?
Was it interfering with your work for him?

Sounds :silly:

Sorry you lost your job

3. Well I sent him an email saying I'd be home Saturday.
and ... if I still had a job I'd take care of the store calls on Monday.
He said ~ That would be Okay.
Then today he changed his mind.

:bounce: Now I have the time to set up my LLC and contact the companies that I found out about while I was out on this run.

5. He did me a favor.
The oversize escorting season in the north is short.

Now I can devote 100% of my energy to Alpern Escort.

12. It's as close to perfect as I can get.
Although starting at 6:30 AM till 9:30 PM and sleeping in the jeep because I was too darned tired to drive to the motel was a bit much.
That kind of day won't happen too often. It's just that super loads take a bit more time.

It's a challenge to get the run done with the minimum amount of angist.

14. It's sunup to sundown, Monday thru Friday on most loads that need escorts.
I knew that from the start.

Different states don't always follow the same curfew.
Then there are areas that you can't run during rush hour. That's a great time for fuel and supper stops if the driver can plan it that way.

15. The truckers have their cabs, complete with every comfort of
home, don't they?

There was a semi with a load stopped on my street across from one of the houses being built. It was 10:30 at night when I realized he was there, I was out waling the dogs and passed his cab. His generator was going and his color t.v. glowing with a picture better than my t.v. has. Apparently he was delivering supplies to the build sight that were due the next day and he just camped out on the street.

I called around to check because it was so out of the ordinary. I did some research and it would seem that there have been some pretty successful serial killers that drive rigs.

Please be careful out there.

16. Oh goodness!
serial killers that drive rigs sounds really bad
I'll be careful out there! I try to stay out of the truck parking lots unless my light is flashing. They aren't expecting anything small around them.

As for my overnight lodging ~ I have a CLC that gives me deep discounts at most of the motels along the highways. :D I found a (new to me) Jameson Inn that was more than just clean and comfortable. I'll check out other JI locations while I travel.

The heavy haul escort work should pick up toward the end of the year. I'm in project logistics for large equipment and superloads, and we're looking at restarting some projects in 4Q 2009 - 2Q 2010.

Good luck!

19. I'm gonna enjoy visiting one of those stores in 6 months.
I was shocked :wow: when I stopped at the Rite Aid in Newburgh on the way to one of my old stores. The Pro's Choice section was a real mess. It made me feel better about my hard work.
