1. Which album is that one from? I don't recognize it offhand.
For me I don't think I can choose a favorite... I like too many of his. :)

3. Heh, funny.
You posted that right as I decided to go to youtube and watch that video. :P I thought it was a rather genius style parody.

22. Dare to Be Stupid was one of his style parodies, rather than a parody of an actual existing song.
Edited on Sun May-31-09 08:36 AM by DarkTirade
He was aiming at 80s quirky electronica songs, most namely Devo.

And not only did the song do a fantastic job parodying the style, but the video did as well.

37. Yeah, Mark Mothersbaugh said something to the effect
that he was jealous of Weird Al for writing a better Devo song than they ever managed to.

5. That is a tough question
I grew up listening to "In 3D", Brady Bunch, King of Suede, I lost on Jeopardy and of course Eat It!

Still, Amish Paradise reminds me of some times in my life, but It's all about the Pentiums remains true to the geek in me. Because he got it all right.

10. Wasn't there one about Barry Manilow?
I can only remember the refrain:

I need your help, Barry Manilow
Your music really comforts me, I'm lucky
Sing me a song, sing it soft and low
I wish I didn't have to feel so yucky.

"Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota" is good, too. "Achy Breaky Song", "Bohemian Polka", "Pretty Fly for a Rabbi", "Star Wars - The Saga Begins"...

27. Bob
This is clearly my favorite. I mean, all in palindromes; pure genius. "Bob" is a genuine tribute to BOB Dylan.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nej4xJe4Tdg

"Bob"

I, man, am regal - a German am I
Never odd or even
If I had a hi-fi
Madam, I'm Adam
Too hot to hoot
No lemons, no melon
Too bad I hid a boot
Lisa Bonet ate no basil
Warsaw was raw
Was it a car or a cat I saw?

Rise to vote, sir
Do geese see god?
"Do nine men interpret?" "Nine men," I nod
Rats live on no evil star
Won't lovers revolt now?
Race fast, safe car
Pa's a sap
Ma is as selfless as I am
May a moody baby doom a yam?

Ah, Satan sees Natasha
No devil lived on
Lonely Tylenol
Not a banana baton
No "x" in "Nixon"
O, stone, be not so
O Geronimo, no minor ego
"Naomi," I moan
"A Toyota's a Toyota"
A dog, a panic in a pagoda

Oh no! Don Ho!
Nurse, I spy gypsies - run!
Senile felines
Now I see bees I won
UFO tofu
We panic in a pew
Oozy rat in a sanitary zoo
God! A red nugget! A fat egg under a dog!
Go hang a salami, I'm a lasagna hog

The Hasidic Jew standing in the background is Allen Ginsberg, another tribute to greatness.

28. Another good one: "Canadian Idiot"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_TfBbR6L0M

Don't wanna be a Canadian idiot
Don't wanna be some beer swillin' hockey nut
And do I look like some frostbitten hose-head?
I never learned my alphabet from A to Zed

They all live on donuts and moose meat
And they leave the house without packin' heat
Never even bring their guns to the mall
And you know what else is too funny?
Their stupid Monopoly money
Can't take 'em seriously at all

Well maple syrup and snow's what they export
They treat curling just like it's a real sport
They think their silly accent is so cute
Can't understand a thing they're talkin' aboot

Sure they got their national health care
Cheaper meds, low crime rates and clean air
Then again well they got Celine Dion
Eat their weight in Kraft macaroni
And dream of drivin' a Zamboni
All over Saskatchewan

Don't wanna be a Canadian idiot
Won't figure out their temperature in Celsius
See the map, they're hoverin' right over us
Tell you the truth, it makes me kinda nervous

Always hear the same kind of story
Break their nose and they'll just say "sorry"
Tell me what kind of freaks are that polite?
It's gotta mean they're all up to somethin'
So quick, before they see it comin'
Time for a pre-emptive strike!

(We need a white-flag-waving smiley).

Have you ever started a thread, not expecting many people to answer, because they usually don't, and then lots do and it turns out you do not know what you are talking about?

Back in the early 80's, my roommate in college had twenty or so Weird Al songs, and I listened to them over and over as I am wont to do. I know those songs pretty well, and thought I could post this thread. I had no idea there were so many more after my college days! I have not heard of most of the ones you all are talking about.

You win!

*whimper*
