We have a neighbor who was cleaning up his scraggly yard--tree limbs, brush, clippings, you name it-- and shoving the debris between two trees on the back edge of his property, which we see from our deck. I mean, it was a giant mess. I contacted the city and found out they have an ordinance prohibiting exactly what he was doing, so I told them to go ahead and contact him. Hubby went over there first, several weeks ago.
Well, one night last week the guy shows up at the door with citation from the city in hand, saying, "did you do this?". Well, duh. So I offered to let him drive a truck in our driveway so he could haul all the crap out. He promises me it will be in/out in an hour.
Several days later he comes back and says the truck is coming the next day. Next day it shows up 2 hours later than planned, no men to load it. So the neighbor is hoisting all this crap in the truck. Three hours later, it's still there, loaded, and no one to drive it away. Hubby calls neighbor, who says, well, they were going to bring in a backhoe to load the truck, but...wait right there. I didn't tell him he could bring a backhoe on our driveway...in fact, I thought it would be a flatbed truck, not a dump truck!
Truck is parked there overnight and finally is driven away about 10 a.m. next day.
Neighbor is on notice he can clear his yard of debris without using our driveway next time. (Trouble is, he has to haul stuff up the hill in order to put it out at the curb for city pick-up and he's too lazy/and or cheap to hire guys to help or do that himself.)
Says he's going to sell house and move to the beach. I hope so!
