2. Eh, interesting but no big deal
it is a whole lot of effort to consume enough to get the desired effect.

13. I second that--not worth it at all
I would say pot is much better and easier to consume.

3. Why give the "uniformed" any more information than you need to
But seriously, take heed. If you don't know what you're doing with herbs, you can get in over your head. I had a friend when I was a kid who decided to experiment with datura, you know, jimsonweed. He died in a hospital for the criminally insane. Really sad, because he was a good guy, and nice kid.

5. I dont' get the impression that salvia is dangerous in the way
jimsonweed is. I don't expect to end up in any hospital for the criminally isane read the information on it. I've heard these stories about many hallucinagenics. For me I've past through many of those experiences with expanded awareness. I'm looking for people who've tried it no offense intended.

9. Jimsonweed is some crazy shit,
it is one of those drugs that you need to be totally sane to use and come out unscathed, but at the same time anyone who is totally sane would probably not want to do it. Even from am logistical stand point it is a nightmare since you can end up tripping for a long time, you basically need a team of babysitters to make sure you don't die from any number of things that could go wrong (dehydration, over exertion, ect...)

4. i have tried it
Im also a moderator on a substance website, so I felt I should be informed. plus i was curious :)

first off, you can get it in 2 forms: leaf and extract.

forget leaf. useless for smoking IMO. some people have reported chewing fresh leaf like a tobacco quid, and that it works better than smoking the leaf, but all the reports said also that it was pretty foul-tasting.

the extract (commonly sold in 5x and 10x concentrations) are a different story; Use with great caution, definitely in a positive setting/mood and absolutely with a sitter (a sober monitor of your behavior). This is because you can end up getting up and moving about without conscious control. I havent experienced this, but judging from what I have experienced (including brief quasi-blackouts), I'd say it's very possible. Because of that, I would not reccomend this substance to casual drug users (i.e. someone just looking for a harmless fun new high), but rather to experienced and responsible psychonauts.

having disclaimed and warned, I'll say that it is very intense, and very different from shrooms or acid. I dont see how this would be a frequently used drug, unless you were a shaman or something similar.

6. A great resource

For Salvia, check this:
http://www.erowid.org/plants/salvia/salvia.shtml

be sure to scroll down for "experiences"

Erowid.org lists several substances, with detailed and varied info. on each.

there is another site that is very informative, I'll have to search for a minute to get it...

10. The other great resource
Like Erowid, Lycaem offers a great stash of info. on many substances, including "trip reports."

http://leda.lycaeum.org/

Be sure to click on "trip reports" and then scroll to Salvia divinorum, which has 70 reports.

Both Erowid and Lycaem are fascinating reading, even if you're not planning to explore the relatively uncharted expanses of reality (or realities), and our portals into such.
