Have you seen the new DNC ad? It's hilarious -- must

be seen to be fully appreciated!

I saw it at TPM, which, if you don't know, is Josh Marshall's A-One blog at:

http://talkingpointsmemo.com

It's a great site, but you gotta see the ad. It is animated so keep watching for a bit.

2. How strange. I clicked on the link in my post and it's there.

It's on the right side of the page, VERY near the top, as in you can't miss it if you get to the page. If you still don't get there from my link, maybe try opening another window and entering the URL. Computers are weird sometimes.

3. If you mean the one that says:
"Take Back America, Your Ass is on the Line", that involves creating an account at the DNC site. It asked for email address and home address. I dropped out at that point. I'm not afraid of getting on the RNC hit-list, but I'm not that enamored of the DNC either.

Yes, I WILL support Kerry and vote for him in November. But sending Bush back to Crawford is only PART of what's needed. He's just the radiator ornament; the rest of the apparatus will still be in place.

4. Not just a hood ornament
Get rid of bu$h, and you can also get rid of all his Cabinet secretaries and under-secretaries, in one fell swoop.

5. Is this a link on the site
or a popup that appears? or what?

I went there and saw the site itself, etc, but saw no sign of a link to the DNC other than the signup form.

I went to dnc.org to look, and didn't see anything obvious.

7. I don't know why there's any problem seeing the ad -- I just

went to TPM from my bookmarks and the ad is still there, still on the right side of the page, though now it's a fair ways down the page since Josh added an essay today.

It pictures a big-eared hobby horse (i.e., a hobby donkey/ hobby ass) with those funny googly glass eyes and a funny grinning mouth, and the text says

TAKE BACK AMERICA

IT'S YOUR ASS ON THE LINE.

That's it, aside from the letters DNC.

(IF you click on the ad, you will be invited to join the DNC e-mail list -- horrors! Our party wants to send newsletters to Democrats! Yes, the DNC is imperfect. Herding cats ain't easy, guys.)

I thought it was a clever and funny ad, because those hobby horses are funny-looking to start with, but maybe no one else is amused. That's cool, but
frankly, all this "It's not there" and "I don't want to sign up for the DNC mail list" has made me sorry I bothered to post about it. If you can't see it, don't think it's funny, or object to the DNC trying to enroll Democrats on its e-mail list, I can't help you. I've seen the ad every time I've been to TPM, I think it's funny and shows spirit.

I'm a yellow-dog Democrat so you can bet yo' ass I'm on the DNC list.

P.S. Thanks, papau, for the other links! I haven't checked them yet but, my stars, that's a big ass logo in your post! :7

9. Most excellent, bif! Wish that the

party or Kerry could use an ad like that but I think remembering the great pretzel battle would be condemned by the VRWC.

I think the DNC is showing guts to use the word "ass" in an ad. Would not be surprised if they get beat up a bit. Nevermind that those elephants like to refer to the Dem symbol as a jackass!

10. Thanks. I'd love to see them run something like that
But they're too spineless. Although I imagine Dean wouldn't have been against it.

11. I think it's not so much that they're spineless (though some are)

as that they know it would offend some people, and give Sean O'Reilly and Rush Coulter a talking point. It would be "How can they be so mean as to show a picture of our leader all bruised up?" although the photos were shown on the news at the time. It's kind of weird when you look at some of the 19th century political cartoons -- sometimes, we're much more delicate today. More politically correct, I suppose.
