I'm burning out - Remind me again why working for yourself.........

is a good thing.
Just getting tired of doing the sales, marketing, purchasing, shipping, delivery, design, assembly, customer service, taxes, accounts receivable, and worst of all accounts payable. You other business owners know what I'm talking about. Sometimes you just feel completely overwhelmed and then it passes.
God I need a break. Oh, and another thing on the plate is doing my first trade show in Vegas in May and making the arrangements. All this and I'm not even making any decent money yet but I guess that is to be expected in a start-up. Well, at least I'm in the black.
I know I'm just whining but this seems as good a place as any. Hell, I'm already feeling a bit better.

Never Mind.

You are your own boss. You call the shots. You get to watch something that you created yourself, grow and get better. You get to feel productive, creative, independent, and when success comes--strong, powerful, and satisfied.

Starting your own business takes a lot of courage and a heck of a lot of stamina and determination. Be proud of yourself for doing what so many wish they could but cannot or won't.

It is satisfying to watch something grow and most amazingly go in directions you never even imagined. I always thought that none of the people I worked for were any smarter than me, they just had bigger balls so 3 years ago I figured I'd take a shot.

The biggest thing with me was doing the taxes and saving all of the required documents throughout the year to do them.

I was mildly successful. I paid off about forty thousand dollars in debt over those two years. But in the end it was just taking too much of a toll on my sanity having to put my business before everything else.

We have had our own business for 10 years now and it's still so hard sometimes.

I'm sitting at my desk in a pair of gym shorts, a t-shirt, and no shoes. There's only one other guy here who could possibly complain about it, and he won't because he's dressed the same way.

I'm going to take a 90-minute lunch today so I can squeeze in a workout at the gym, and no one's going to complain about that either.

Tomorrow I'm leaving early to drive my son to Tae Kwan Do class, and I don't have to beg anyone for permission.

I agree that it's hard sometimes, but the trade-offs are worth it IMO.

cats aren't complaining. No lunch meetings and long commutes to work anymore, and I don't have young men assisting me who are secretly working to unseat me and take my job! That's a relief! A lot of my clients hire me, not knowing that I'm a woman (and a youngish blonde one at that) so descrimination isn't as huge a problem as it once was. Sure, some years I don't see a vacation and I often work seven days a week, but it beats worrying about being downsized any day!

Even though you actually work for every clown who comes in the door, no matter what kind of asshole they are, because you're hungry.

The biggest diference between me and you is that I work for the same assholes day after day,so I'm used to them, and at 5:30, I shut off the lights and go home.

Just can't wait until I have enough income coming in to hire someone and share some of the load. Then again I guess that will come with a whole nother set of problems. LOL

I got off the corporate merry-go-round, 4 years ago. True, I'm not making as much $ now as I was then, but I'm enjoying life more.

That's the bottom line for me.
