Our computer support department is fired up about Bush!

The next row of cubicles over are the help-desk folks (or Computer Support Center.) Every day they complain about Bush and the Republicans loud enough for me to hear. I usually trot over there to chime in. They're a well-informed bunch and hate him for a wide variety of reasons--the economy hemorrhaging jobs, the WMD lies, the war, etc.

Interestingly, at least two of them are ex-military.

Retired actually, and I wouldn't vote for a republican for toilet bowl cleaner, if it were a paying job. I doubt I would piss on the man if he were on fire. He is scum who has never been held accountable for anything in his life. He let our fellow servicemembers down. You may not hear a great rumbling but Vets, in very large numbers, hate the motherfucker, and they (we) are very good about voting.

I can tell ya no one in the IT industry is happy with all our jobs going overseas.

I had lunch today with a woman who is about to retire from my agency. We had avoided politics in the past. Today she told me she was so disgusted with Bush that she was actually thinking about contributing her time to the Kerry campaign. Disgusted at having been lied to about the Iraq War, disgusted at the economy and that she had scrimped and saved to retire and no her nest egg was less than half of what it might have been. She blamed Bush*.

After I lunch I took my Toyota to our small town mechanic. We talked about what needed to be done to keep my 17 year old car running well - its good on gas and it should run for years to come - why replace it. His comment was that you better keep it - the gas prices are going to do nothing but go up. The conversation continued on to discussion of war for oil, corporate influence in politics and the corruptness of the bush* regime. Amazingly, he, I could swear had campaigned for local office as a Republican 2 years earlier.

Small sample, yes, but I am encouraged.
