3. Baron V. Harkonnen = Karl Rove
But I do agree. The movie kinda sucks, bad choice of director for this project. Not the place for a David Lynch freakshow (even though I like Blue Velvet). A real disappointment to me and most huge fans of the book.

4. I actually liked it
At least it was a damn sight better than the excruciating Sci-Fi Channel remake, with the coma-inducing William Hurt as Duke Leto and a Paul Atreides who couldn't act his way out of a wet paper bag.

5. me too
Well part of it. IMHO it did a great job to bring the atmosphere of the book(s) to the screen. However the changed story line sucked and made too much use of explanations.

6. Parts of Lynch's Dune are excellent.
A few are disgusting. It doesn't hang together artistically.

But when it's good, it's very good.

8. Great movie
Though it is hard to find people that will admit they liked it. The numbers do seem to be increasing with time though.

12. The casting was actually pretty good
Jessica, Paul and the Duke were more or less how I imagined them.

9. Of course it's a dark movie...
..Arrakis isn't exactly a happy place. All the better that the production embody that.

Somewhere, I still have the 4 hour version on videotape, complete with all the bad 80's commercials... Usually best to watch it in a few sittings. =)

11. Sting really chews the scenery, if I remember
Edited on Fri Mar-19-04 10:03 AM by jpgray
But what really had me rolling in the aisles were the cheesy styrofoam 'hardest stone' and the yelling weapons... the FUCK!?!
