J.J. Jackson, One Of MTV's First VJs, Dies At Age 62
Another sad event to make one acutely aware of the passage of time...

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1485838/20040318/index.jhtml?headlines=true

J.J. Jackson, remembered as one of the first faces of MTV, died Wednesday night in Los Angeles of an apparent heart attack, according to friends and former business associates. He was 62.

Excellent song. Rest in peace, J.J., you were one of the good ones.

3. A Great Song
Hard to believe that was his only big hit.

Rest in peace, JJ.

6. Not the same guy.
The '60s-era J.J. Jackson was *not* the same guy who helped to found MTV in the early '80s. They just happened to share the same name.

4. Part of the first, and best, MTV crew ever
along with Martha Quinn, Alan Hunter, Mark Goodman, and Nina Blackwood. Back when MTV still played (gasp) videos, the videos were all original and creative, and none of the VJs really knew what to make of the whole thing.

This is sad. Another little piece of my youth is dead.

5. He was the first thing I ever saw
when I turned on MTV for the first time. I hadn't thought about him for years, but I'll still miss him.
