Just saw "Touching The Void" last night - damn! DAMN!
Best adventure movie I've ever seen, and one of the best documentaries I've ever seen. Trust me - check it out.

2. Well, yeah, there is the splitting-tibia bit and all of that . . .
But still, an absolutely unbelievable story.

3. Is it in theaters or on DVD
I am going out of town today to a larger city, this sounds like a good movie to go to.
If rented, were?

5. What did you think of the part
when he's stranded in the crevasse, he doesn't know what's beneath him, he knows he's been abandoned...and he starts to think about God. And he figures he should pray. But, then he stops himself and decides -- there really is no God.

7. Refreshingly different!
I was expecting the usual pieties, but was surprised. Will Fred Phelps start picketing showings of the film?

The entire crevasse sequence was just stunning and surreal, like nothing I've ever seen.

10. I agree
both men were so honest. They were less concerned with how they would be perceived than they were being brutally candid about their thoughts and their fears.

6. I haven't seen it yet, but was blown away by the book several years ago
Just found out a few days ago that there is a movie about this and am dying to go see it.

The story is simply unbelievable. As fiction, it would be preposterous, but as fact, it is one of the most amazing survival stories I've ever heard.

:wow:

8. Same here
I was surprised it's even showing in my town but it opened today. I have a small collection of mountaineering/adventure travel books and that is one of the better ones. Probably check the movie out Sunday.

9. Haven't finished the book yet
But so far, It is the best mountaineering book I have read. And I've read a few.
